Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
You know the Motherboard is probably one of the smartest elements to future-proof in your rig...
Today it would be smart to buy an on-board SATA3 controller because that's the direction hard drives' performance speeds are going. With the increasing rate of innovation especially in the world...
I'm getting some incredulous benchmarks that I just wanted to see maybe why or is this even accurate...
This is the benchmark result for my SSD, a 160GB Intel X-25M Gen2.
... Operating at the expecting levels of about 100 MB/sec write and 250 MB/sec read.
I just got my 2TB storage...
Essentially by purchasing a SATA 3 board (or card) you would be raising the ceiling of the connection which would support potential bursts but there is little point in that drastic of a upgrade for milliseconds of better performance. :)
The C300 SSD from Crucial - the 256GB version - has...
The Intel X25 SSD will tell you the firmware that is installed by the sticker on the drive.
"FW: XXXX"
There is no need to set it up as a secondary and then check and then download and then reboot... It's basically a lot of extra steps.
Just connect it to port 1 and reboot with the ISO...
Sounds promising rive22!
Mind if I bug with you questions about setup/usage once I get to that point?
Was also wondering what happens if the system temp folder on the RAMDisk becomes full? Does it automatically write over data?
Also, rive22, you chose a 1GB RAMDisk (Awesome that...
Looking for some advice and numbers.. always advice and numbers.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a P6X58D Premium now that they're back in stock. My question is are there any comparable boards performance wise?
I would like to stick with onboard 3.0s (SATA/USB) but obviously not if there...
My 160GB has the model number just like the OP.
Ending in "...160G2GN."
I believe the GN ending indicates it is OEM, but upon further reading the G2 does indicate it is a gen2 drive.
My drive shipped with firmware version 02G9.
Bit of a thread necro (not too bad...).
I wanted to confirm that the Model number listed in the OP indicates it is a Gen2 SSD. Can someone confirm this?
I am on the fence right now about whether or not to save the $75 with the open box P6X5D Premium on Newegg or wait for the retail to return (or elsewhere).
How are those open box P6X58D's out there performing, any issues with em?
The reason I went for the 160GB SSD is that I was looking for a single-drive solution in which I wouldn't have to move pieces of my OS all over the place. So it sounds as if leaving pagefile alone on the SSD shouldn't affect real world performance anytime soon.
Excellent replies, thanks.
I'd get the 5970.
Its a dual GPU card on a single PCB. Two card solution with a lot less heat. It will also leave you with a couple hundred to use on the speaker system.
Do some research on tech forums (like this lovely one) on setting up specifically Gen2 Intel drives. There are just a few settings like the ones I mentioned with the Gen 2s where the Gen 1s required a bit of tweaking.
The Vista speed guide is handy too. Keep in mind it is on OCZ's forums and...
You'd have to tell us what steps & settings you have done to install the drive...
ACHI mode in BIOS?
prefetch, superfetch, pagefile disabled?
Indexing disabled?
