One was a generic keyboard that I can't find a name on. The other is a Logitech G15. Both USB. Same behavior on each. If anything, the generic worked better.
Ok, I just took advantage of a deal Fry's was having on the new ASUS P8Z77-V Pro motherboards. However, after getting everything installed, I was trying to set up my RAID setup. I change the SATA configuration to RAID and reboot. I see the normal:
Press <CTRL-I>to enter configuration...
Hi all,
I have a ASUS P8P67 rev 3 that I have set up with a RAID 5 HD setup. It's been running great for over a year.
I recently bought an Intel 180gb SSD. I installed the SSD with Win7 x64 and made it my primary C: drive. My old RAID setup I kept as a data drive (did not reformat/etc -...
I can't find it now, but believe one of our Asus techs mentioned that an upcoming BIOS update from Intel for the RAID controller on P8P67 boards would support booting from a RAID set larger than 2.0TB.
Was that true - and do we have any kind of ETA/update?
I'm going to keep on using my board until it's clear I can swap without long delays. I'll then get another board to hold me over until the swap goes through. Until then, I'm going to enjoy my crazy-fast machine and only leave DVD drives plugged into the effected ports.
Don't think this is as...
Ah, appears I left out the second datapoint. During my tests with the 1250 bios, I had only a SSD that that was plugged into the Marvell controler and it also showed the same problem; just to a lesser degree. But I didn't catch that ATAPI devices weren't supported. Surprising really, because...
I know I've seen several other posters that had disabled their Marvel controller because it was causing all kinds of slowdowns/system 'timeouts'. I was also having this trouble and am currently trying to help root-cause it. If you've had trouble with the Marvel controller and turned it off, or...
Agree - he's been really responsive with a problem I'm seeing with the Marvell controller. Definitely an awesome support system. You ASUS guys have earned my future business and almost certainly kept me from returning the board. What a refreshing change from the continually DECLINING support...
Always back up your important data before you start.
I upgraded from a Core2Duo 6850 to and i7-2600k, from Intel DP35DP motherboard to the P8P67. Even had a 2 drive raid setup. Simply swapped boards+cpu's and it actually booted right up. Windows went crazy for about 2 reboots installing...
You simply press to enter the BIOS menu at bootup, go to advanced mode (if you aren't already), go to the Advanced tab, select Onboard Device Configuration, and then select the Marvell Storage Contoller option box and set it to disabled.
As for your boot problems - make sure that nothing is...
Ok, I finally plugged something (an SSD drive with nothing on it) into the Marvell controller with the 1253 bios. The problem has *greatly* been improved. Most of the desktop slowdowns are now gone.
That said, I did still get an occasional super-short stutter when playing high framerate games...
I understand not trusting the bios; but everyone has a different comfort threshold - and that's fine. If someone told me they were running a bios I'd downloaded from some forum from a guy that was supposedly from Asus - it'd probably raise an eyebrow too. Certainly doesn't sound like a 'safe...
Tried the 1253 bios last night, but haven't tried putting the SATA data drives on the Marvell controller. I'm enjoying my new, screaming-fast machine too much to fiddle. :)
However, it appears someone over on the ASUS forums had the same symptoms and the same fix worked for him too...
Hope our Asus guys can help out.
I have the P8P67 (standard) with an i7-2600k (no overclocking, nothing special). I started waking up to blue-screens as my new box tried to wake up and record programs at night. I got minidump files from the crashes, and with the help of the windows guys...
hehehe - I hadn't been on since my last motherboard purchase 3 years ago - pretty fun to be a noob after all that time still.
I don't know if it's the same thing - but I will try the 1253 bios tonight when I get home. I don't think this is the double-boot/post problem though. I don't get a...
