    I think the problem with your win xp corp. cd is that it doesnt have service pack2 slipstreamed onto it. You will have to have service pack2 at a minimum or maybe service pack 1, i cannot remeber exactly, the original win xp pro can only detect 150gb no more.

    It can be set to either, just make sure that you have the SATA drive set to boot before the IDE one.

    It could be a hardware fault with the optical drive, try another optical drive in the machine or try the optical drive from the HP in another machine. You should find out what the problem is.

    Try testing your HDD, you may have recenlty got a bad sector and that file might be sitting on it. You can grab the tools you need from you hard drives manufacturer's website. Hope this helps

    Try playing the video with another media player, also re-install the codec/codec's it uses. This should hopefully help you in diagnosing the problem further.

    I have experienced the same problems with driver updates from MS website, I learned my lesson doing it that way so i tend to stick to manual driver updates for the future.

    The problem you are describing with the game sounds like you need to set the affinity for your CPU, do a search about it on the forums cause i am not exactly sure how to set it. But i have never heard of it causing problems with websites. I hope this helps

    I would suggest you firstly, intstall the cpu, connect the psu, install the video card and put 1 stick of ram in. Then proceed to power the machine and go from there.
