The Official GTX980/970 OC & Benchmark Perf. Thread

I've noticed the same few times. Restarting Afterburner fixed it. Monitoring graphs bug the same way. Again, restart fixes it. Seems a small bug in the afterburner.

Intel Haswell i7-4770K IPC and Overclocking Review @ [H]

Nice review. I am sitting here with 920 @ 3,8GHz on Asus P6X58 Deluxe mb which have 2x sata6 and 2x usb3. So for those I dont need the upgrade. Performance increases from Sandy -> Ivy -> Haswell are really disappointing but I am still leaning towards upgrading to Haswell now. Z87 mb's look nice...

ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II Video Card Review @ [H]

I had 7970 DCII with similar issues on 1440p CrossOver monitor. I tried different DL-DVI cables. Some worked better and some worse but I couldn't get rid of the issue totally. So I had to return the card with refund as at that time there was no known fix and other users reported similar issues...

    Hd6950 Snowing in 2560x1440

Could be bad quality DL-DVI output from the card or low quality cable. Example Asus 7970 DCII have also the same issues, only then the pixels flicker green. The issue is only revealed when used DL-DVI link with 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 displays. I suggest that you try good quality cable. That got...

Voltage + memory do not downclock on 7000 series?

Note that if you're using 12.11 beta 3 or 4 drivers its common that 300/150 clocks do not work because of some driver bug.

    Which 7950 to buy? (Gigabyte WF3 or Sapphire 950 / Vapor-X)

In open case vapor-x's (just as reference because then the air flow is similar in each case) gpu stays at 65C and vrm 75C under Unigine Heaven bench. Clearly there was some bad patch. Maybe they forgot heat tapes between vrm heat sinks.

    Which 7950 to buy? (Gigabyte WF3 or Sapphire 950 / Vapor-X)

Interesting to hear about bios error (even though that might not be the real reason). I've 7950 vapor-x and the default non boost bios with 850MHz clock was unusable because the gpu voltage raised under stress up to 1.25 which caused overheating and driver reset. I changed to the boost bios...

    Which 7950 to buy? (Gigabyte WF3 or Sapphire 950 / Vapor-X)

Just small update considering 7950 vapor-x. Latest trixx 4.4.0 beta supports voltage adjustment without needing to force constant voltage.

    Which 7950 to buy? (Gigabyte WF3 or Sapphire 950 / Vapor-X)

Just installed my 7950 vapor-x and have to say I am disappointed at the noise and the heat. Unigine Heaven run raises the temps to 85C when the whole system crashes and fan blows at 70% which makes really nasty noise.. not sure whats up with the card. I've not even used the overclock button...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

I just packed up my voltage locked 7970 DCII TOP for return. While doing that I checked how well the heat plate was seated and noticed that some of the screws were not tight enough. Few memory chips which I could see didn't make contact to it but had ~½mm gap. Also card wasn't straight but...

New details of the 7970 Ghz Edition surfaces

Little driver speculation before 79xx "XT2" chips are released: In Guru3D forums Unwinder (writer of RivaTuner and Afterburner) commented: "Unofficial overclocking mode is completely gone with new drivers, old libs no longer work. So use official mode and stay within CCC clock limits. Thank...

ASUS 7970 DCII owners - tell me this isn't true

I am thinking that there are slight differences on the board itself. Mainly on the controller chip which might be different on voltage locked cards. This would explain why voltage reading or changing it with afterburner doesn't work for these cards. If that's true then different bios wouldn't...

ASUS 7970 DCII owners - tell me this isn't true

Only programs that can even read the gpu voltage are gpu-z and asus gpu tweak. I doubt the gpu-z even reads the voltage really as it is just constant 1.170v without any fluctuation under load. Asus gpu tweak shows 1.142v-1-162v under load (furmark). I can lower the voltage from gpu tweak but not...

ASUS 7970 DCII owners - tell me this isn't true

I've personally tried so many different versions of radeon drivers, asus gpu tweak, sapphire trixx, msi afterburner and even did clean install of windows 7 and windows 8 consumer preview but with no affect. I also tried with exactly with the same versions of drivers and gpu tweak as fellow 7970...

Whats your GPU-Z ASIC score ?

ASUS 7970 DCII TOP ASIC 65,2%. This is with the "new?" dreaded voltage locked bios with default voltage of 1.175v which cant be increased (atleast for now). Max stable gpu 1130MHz with 1660MHz mem.
