Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
even if your mobo isn't flashed to recognize the X2, it would still boot as a single core proc. sounds like you could have some bad memory.
I less than three epox and jetway for putting POST code readers on their mobos.
had a couple of Abit boards (3 maybe) a socket 423 RAID board that took rambus, a NFS-7 with a mobile barton and a KV8-MAX3. A64 is where they really lost it IMHO, they stuck with via for way too long, and even when they went to nVidia their offerings were mediocore.
'Tis a cutthroat business.
Manchester 0534? I think thats the week, its one of the first Manchsters out, x2 3800+. Does 2.4ish stock volts, currently running at 2.6 1.4vcore. Thing does not respond to high volts, either that or this Mobo is crapping out about 270 HTT, cause even 1.55 is not stable at 2.7 GHz...
right before I bought my winchester they FINALLY came out with a 7:1 and 8:1 bios for that thing, but I was too fed up with it to ever try to go higher. Plus 2 volts is probably a bad thing for a clawhammer on air. 1.9 ran 63C prime stable.
I miss my 0339 clawhammer. that thing did 2.4Ghz at 1.9vcore with a venus 12 and a 80 mm 'nado. Unlidded of course. ;)
Too bad the KV8-MAX3 was a POS.
For that cheap, I'd def. hit the 175. You do have a DFI mobo capable of running high HTT, but IMHO, the less stress you have to place on each component in your rig, the better your OC results are.
AMD does actually have an Opty 285 I think that they sell to sun for their uber high end servers. You just can't find them on the retail channel. I think they run 2.6 GHz.
But yeah, OP, the only proc that is dualie and guarenteed for 3 GHz is an 830. :)
I lubborz my TT big typhoon now that I don't have to mess with it. That thing is a pure Pain In The Ass to install. 2xF@H runs about 44C load at 2.6 1.4vcore with a manchester though. I can't hear it over all the liquor bottles vibrating on top of my refridgerator anyways. :o
Theoretically, the processors are identical, except for the IMC has support for ECC on the 2XX and the HTT processor links are enabled on the 2XX.
However, all 940 mobo's/procs require ECC ram which is: 1)hard to find in tight timings 2) a little slower at the same SPD/bandwidth numbers as...
