I just installed a new cpu in my dads comp. Its an older Duron 1.8. Socket A.

The startup and in windows shows it as: "Unknown CPU Type" 1.8ghz

Is this bad? What can I do to let it see what it is?

The mobo is K7T Turbo2 MSI

Thanks

Its fine, you prolly just need to flash the bios. My Mobile AXP compy still does that.

Not a problem at all. I did the mobile mod on my Tbred 2100+ and it showed up as Unknown CPU ever since.

I never noticed any difference in performance what so ever.

Cool thanks guys. My dad just picked up his comp and after testing for a day I noticed nothing as well.

Thanks again
