The fan does not have a light. The "jerk" you are describing leads me to believe it is not getting enough power. Are you plugging it into a fan controller or direct power from the power supply?

I know you went through a bunch of wierd stuff but did you happen to just put Vista in the DVD drive and run it straight out? Did it see the drive or would it not even read it?

Let me know if that works oneils Do you think it would be a good idea to have a temp IDE drive (around the house) to install vista then put in the SATA once it is installed?

I know that Vista has the ability to see other options to load drivers on to SATA drives but will I be able to install Vista by having just one SATA DVD Drive or do I have to have a IDE to install it? This is a wierd question but I wasn't sure....

I plan on getting a new desktop with a eVGA 8800GTX but is it really late in the game to get one? Should I just wait for the new 8900GTX or whatever the new card is going to be called? ATI is supposed to release thier lineup around April so I figured Nvidia would be right on their tail.
