I just ordered a new macbook pro and it really concerns me with a new video card release like this. I have mixed feelings on this. Apple will prob not put these into the machines till next revision but if they did it would certainly piss off a lot of people who recently purchased a new pro. I did not follow ati mobile cards so I don't know if Apple is known for having the best card at the time in there machine. Garrrr.

I have no idea what you're trying to say, but I'll give it a shot. The ATI card they had was pretty bad. Yeah, its considered midrange but its super underpowered and Apple underclocked it. Apple is not known for having the best card. They are, infact, known for having the worst cards and the worst update times, because obviously manufacturers don't release Mac versions of their cards until Apple okay's it.

And no, I don't think they'll put the 8700M in for at least another year.

To be honest, I do not think they will update the GPUs in the MBPs until there is an updated DX10 mobile line. While going from an 8600 to an 8700 might be what many others will do, Apple has yet to do that in my eyes. They had the X1600 for awhile, while others were throwing in better cards in there laptops.

It's only recently that notebooks with the 8600M GT have started coming out so I wouldn't worry about it.

Serious question - what's the GPU Dell is using in their new laptop (that one that actually looks good :p )?
