Ugh.. so we had a big storm come through. lost power 3 times. first and second power loss was fine. the final one that took out power for 3 days looks to have killed my PSU.
shame as its surge protected n all that but was a good 10 years old at this point so it is what it is. just hoping it...
budget is entirely dependent on drive size more or less. definitely not 299 for a single drive. brand new 10TB CMR/7200s are ~225 (which is still overpriced considering i bought my current 10TB disks for less than that like 3 years ago) and by and large anything over 10TB is wasteful in my...
So im brand new to using snapraid (and drivepool) and i just got passed my first sync, setting up my scheduled tasks etc. I also discovered the snapraid smart command. Evidently its a good thing I did.
I obviously already have to purchase a hard drive today to replace that 100% one and...
So smartctl has one of my drives at 100% chance of failure within the next year which best I can tell usually means a whole lot sooner than that. Ive never bought a used drive in my life but prices at the moment are exorbitant.
10TB is the preferred cut off for a few reasons. best i can tell...
Looking for something rackmount thats 1500VA+, I have to power 2 monitors, a gaming pc, and a DAS with 24 disks in it.
prefer something with rails included.
Selling these guys right here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WF6484/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They were running at 3600 16-17-17-37 at 1.35v with no problems. (samsung b-die) I never tried further. Takes too much time and stability/longevity is more important to...
Plus with one pool, if a drive is failing drivepool will move data to another disc.
With multiple pools you need enough extra space in every pool at all times to cover each pool in that scenario.
I assumed almost everyone used a single pool for simplicity sake.
If I can use 2 parity drives with snapraid and have them cover say 4 pools then I have even more to think about.
Complex setting this up for the long haul but I’m done with a bazillion disks all over so trying to think ahead...
unfortunately not, i have 32gb, i need to upgrade to 64gb and I dont want to mix memory so that would leave me either mixing and ending up with 48 or seeking out 2 more sticks that match those :p
I need to add some memory to my machine (unfortunately) and I wanted to wait until I built a new one but here I am. Being on Z370 it doesnt support 32gb DIMMS so i need 4x16.
I'm currently using 4x8 corsair 3600 so something in that ballpark speedwise. if i wasnt so darn disappointed I...
nope, i didnt. I just pulled it and put it in the box. pulled it back out and stuck it in the m2.2 and yea, this whole thing was the result. 2 boot managers and for whatever reason windows wanted to defer to the one on the 2nd m.2 slot, that was the older and smaller drive. its certainly...
yea i backup my system drive with macrium reflect atm so thats always going to be safe. I backup some essentials I want another copy of in a hodgepodgy mess via robocopy to an external 10TB i have in a dock.
its this big ole giant pool i'm concerned with. 24 discs in a cramped space all...
