How much would you say the "smudging" affects the actual readability of the text? I can certainly stand some color inaccuracies. I should mention that I also do web design, but will keep any graphic/color critical work confined to my CRT or my laptop's LCD. Thinking that sounds like a good plan...
Good points. I also think I will be closer to 6-7 feet away. Man, this sure is daunting with everything available. :) It's a shame there's no good way to demo several to gauge their performance as a monitor. (Reading text, etc). If a 40-42 inch is overkill, I may be inclined to go that way. It...
I am also considering getting a TV to use as a computer monitor. I do a lot of work with recording software (Logic, for instance), so I will want to have something that is reasonably crisp. I sit about 5-6 feet back from the monitor, so I am assuming I would want to go for something in the 32...
Okay, just got off the phone with geeks.com... I decided to just ask for a refund, seeing how hit or miss it is. (Plus the geeks.com deal is refurb...) Unfortunately I have to pay the shipping, so hopefully that won't end up being too bad. Now to hunt for a good replacement...
flyingboat, is Soyo paying for the shipping? I guess I will have to get on the phone with them in a few here. I got the 6MS panel as well, but at this point I just need a monitor. Perhaps I can talk them into a cross ship, but I doubt it since you mentioned they try to fix them first...
I spoke way too soon... After about 5 hours of use, it developed the random shutoff problem. Now I am lucky to have it stay on longer than 5 minutes at a time. Has anyone figured out any sort of fix for it? If not, looks like I will have to send it back and deal with Soyo's support. Grr...
Got mine today from the Geeks.com sale, MVA panel. No dead pixels, and arrived in great shape. SO impressed with this for $200! So I went to order two more and they are out of stock. Bummer!
Well, unfortunately a few things need to go to pay the bills.
First Item: an Intel Mac Mini, Core Solo 1.5 ghz w/2 gigs of ram. I would like to get $550 shipped, as the ram alone is worth $200. Good deal for someone out there who would eventually like to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, as I had...
Well, it's nice to hear about the possibility of a firmware update. I will hold off on sending mine in for the whine I mentioned until we know about that. My screen also has the power button "issue" where it sometimes takes a few presses to power on.
Mine has seeminglydeveloped a whine. I presume this is the backlight? May have to go through the process of returning it, as it is driving me crazy. Anyone else having this problem? Is this normal for a newer lcd to do this, if so, are thereany known fixes? Changing the brightness level does not...
When I get my new computer next year, I will have to add this alongside my Benq. Just waiting to see tests on input lag. But considering they are using faroudja processing, I doubt it will be an issue.
