I've found the solution to my problem! This might not be the case for you guys, but there was a single pin on my mainboard CPU socket that was bent very very slightly. I carefully realigned it and all works as it should. Svet from the MSI forums was the one to point me in that direction...
Copying my post in the MSI forums:
I have done the following with issues still unresolved:
BIOS is listed as version 1.2
Cleared CMOS
Loaded Optimized Defaults in BIOS
Installed each individual module in the first memory slot by itself (Correctly reads 2gb)

I cannot find a memory remapping option on the MSI GD65 either. This is a huge issue. Is there any workaround? I'm using 4 sticks of 2gb DDR3 1600 dual channel memory.
So I'm using 64-bit Windows 7, and windows performance/information screen says I have 8gb(3.99 usable), CPU-Z also recognizes 8gb. What does "3.99gb usable" mean? For what its worth, task manager also stats 4gb total.
I just installed 8gb of G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 and the bios on my MSI GD65 is only showing 4096 as well. Yes, it is dual channel ram on a dual channel board. Any suggestions?
Appologies,

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
<$900 w/ tax&shipping. Looking for best bang for buck...
I'm finally building a new system after 5 or so years (used to upgrade every 6 months back in the competitive gaming glory days). Just looking for some feedback if any of these components are a too much, too little, overpriced, incompatible, etc, for what I'm doing.
Mainly building this...

so I just installed Vista Home Premium yesterday. I updated drivers and all, but when I scroll in irc, firefox, or ie with arrow keys, clicking on scroll bar, mouse wheel, etc it's rather laggy. Almost as if I don't have my vid card drivers installed(which they are). I've tried a clean install...
I had a problem with my eVGA 6800gt overheating to around 72c gpu/52c ambient idle and 90c+ gpu ingame and this was with no a/c in texas btw :P...so I put on some thermalpaste I had laying around, just a small thin layer on -only- the GPU and now its around 60c gpu/48c ambient idle and up to 77c...
hey, my 6800gt seems to be running really hot...71c core/51c ambient temperatures in windows...was wondering if there are any diagnostic programs out there to see if anythings running wrong, or if its running faster than default...I have the overclocking options unlocked, but it's not...
