    I would go with a single card any day. I've personally seen identical machines, 1 with single 8800GTX and one with dual 8800GTXs and the single was getting higher fps. Single card ftw. GTX 280 is a monster.

    I have my 6000 sitting at 3.4GHz stable liqid cooled though. It idles at 36 c and it goes up to 54 c after a full hour of UT3. Its also at 1.56V.

    Looks like a monitor issue. When you install a driver it changes the resolution and frequency for you. Try just going to safe mode and change it 1024x768 @ 60Hz.
