Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Check the exhaust fan on your power supply.
I was getting random shutdowns, and investigating for awhile before I realized the intake fan on my PS was spinning, but the exhaust had stopped. Mystery solved.
Because a solution can't be described to me? Obviously if I didn't "have to ask" I wouldn't be here posting on a discussion forum you arrogant wad. Some of us use it as a source of new information not just a place to compare wang sizes and brag about benchmark scores.
Anyway...
The PC side of the plug was hot, not the wall. The prongs on the back of the box itself would have burned me given a few more degrees. The exhaust grill on the PSU was also uncomfortably hot.
It's plugged in to a standard surge protector. Nothing fancy. Shares this strip with my speakers...
No help here? Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
Would this extra heat be caused if my PSU was insufficient to power the video card under stress conditions?
Could it be due to poor wiring/lack of juice coming from the source? My building is pretty old and I would not be...
Thes usefullness of a laptop in college depends on a lot of things:
a) Your major.
b) The facilities you will be working in.
c) Your distance from school (and transportation options to and from).
I would have found a laptop somewhat useful, but as a CS major most of my classes were in labs...
Hello folk,
I recently built a new rig via Newegg.com. Last night, during a standard gaming session ala World of Warcraft, my PC unexpectedly powered down. No blue screen, no crashes -- just as if I had yanked the plug.
So I reach around the back of the box to toggle the power, and find...

Works great in my new system, which is effectively identical to yours. Only downside so far is the temperatures are on the high side, but given the performance there's no need to overclock it anyway, so no big deal.
I think the temperatures are accurate, because I overclocked the card and saw some artifacts in CS:S after about 10 minutes when the temperature moved above 90C. However, it doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects at around 81C which appears to be maximal load temperature on normal clock...
I bought this card as part of a new system I just built at NewEgg.com. I'm running an Athlong 54 3200+, 1GB DC PC-3200 RAM, Chaintech Zenith NForce4 Mobo, 480W Tagan E-Power PSU.
As first assembled, my GeForce was idling at 62C and after about 3 hours of HL2 and CS:S was reading 79-81C.
I...
I just purchased a Lite-On Dual Layer DVD-RW at NewEgg.com:

I'm really disappointed in the noise level of this drive. I have 3 case fans, a PCI Slot-Fan, an enormous heatsink fan, and the case is whisper quiet...
Last night I got a new machine up-and-running w/ a 3200+ AMD 64 and a GeForce 6800 GT PCI-E 256MB card.
I downloaded 3DMark05 just out of curiousity, and ran it. It seemed like it was running really slow, like ~20FPS, and eventually was slowing down in parts to < 5FPS. I got worried that...
Hello All,
Last night I put together a new system:
AMD 64 3200+, 1GB DC PC-3200 DDR400, CHAINTECH NForce4 Motherboard
Everything appears to work as normal, the drives are detected, the system boots into the BIOS as normal and lists all devices, etc.
Problem is, I can't get any disk to...
I have a full rebuild en route from New Egg which should arrive on Wednesday. I'm curious if anyone has any general advice for preparing for assembly. So far I've picked up an air duster to keep the area free of debris and some acetone to prep the heatsink.
Is there anything else apart from...
