New System, How to Boot?!

Hello All,

Last night I put together a new system:
AMD 64 3200+, 1GB DC PC-3200 DDR400, CHAINTECH NForce4 Motherboard

Everything appears to work as normal, the drives are detected, the system boots into the BIOS as normal and lists all devices, etc.

Problem is, I can't get any disk to boot so I can install Win XP. I have tried booting to my XP CD but get a non-system disk error (it's an old copy). I also tried creating a floppy boot using an ancient Windows 98 PC I have around, but got the same error for this one -- non system disk, insert a system disk and reboot, etc.

Any suggestions on how I can boot w/ access to my DVD drive so I can proceed w/ installation of XP?

make it the master on the primary IDE channel and access the BIOs then selct CDROM as the first boot device and also select the option to make other devices bootable

while your at it make sure all you cabling and jumpers are correct
masters only at the end of the calbe, no slave without a master
make sure no drive (HDD) is set to single if a slave is present
if your employing cable select all devices on that channel have to as well
(better ti manually set slave and master)
any channel that has a HDD need to have an 80 wire cable

Primary channel is generally marked next to the connector as IDE0
Secondary as IDE1
