Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
The other night I was trying to update my nvidia drivers, and half way through the install I got an error and then it shut down my computer. Now when I try to start up windows, I get a blank screen. Just black, nothing on it. However, I can get it to boot in safe mode and show the screen, but...
the reason i ask is i test parts for a living at a small computer parts warehouse. our repair vendor has been claiming some hard drives as REPAIRED and they still fail testing.
they have said it is because i have been only using WD's software for all drives, and because of jumpers.

I have a few questions regarding the testing software released by all the major hdd mfgs (seagate/maxtor, wd, samsung, hitatchi, etc.) and i am wondering:
1. Aren't they the same programs with the respective company's logo on it? i.e. they all do the same thing, so test results on one drive...
If I want to erase everything off of a hard drive, and I mean literally wipe it clean 100% nothing on it, is simply going into Computer Management -> Disk Management and deleting the partition sufficient? Or are there still bits and fragments left on the hard drive?
Thanks in advance.
thank you! i went to the bios, core 2 and 3 were disabled by default (maybe cuz board was originally installed with e6400? idk)
enabled them, now my temps are 39 40 40 36.. thank you so much, i was freaking out!
Just installed a q6600 in my machine. Core temp only displays 2 temp readings, task manager/performance only has 2 cpu windows..
OS is xp pro
also the tems in core temp are 58 and 62 (at idle)
speedfan 4.34 reports 42 and 38
why are neither of these showing all 4 cores? and what...
thought i would put in my 2 cents.. i have built computers on the carpet, never had a problem with static.. i work with computer hardware all day, never shocked something and ruined it.
maybe im lucky, or maybe you have to try pretty hard to fry a computer with static created by yourself
i fucked up.. plugged the power switch into some other connection that is where the power switch usually goes, but the ACTUAL power switch was in a diff place on the board... fixed that, and so far so good now.
got my 680i LT (eVGA) today. i originally purchased it based just off of features, didnt read any reviews (that was a mistake). now the board will not power on at all. i get a steady blue light when the power supply is on. i am sure everything is hooked up right (i do this for a living)...
i drop motherboards and cpu's on a daily basis... (at my job)
i have never had a good board fail after i drop it, and same with CPU (unless the pins get bent to where i cant fix them)
this is on a concrete floor from at least 4 feet up.
it should be aight.
i think because it is a dell, you will HAVE to match FSB speed, and also ddr 266 = pc2100 i believe, so a gig of pc2100 is the best you can do for that mobo. damn dells :(
right now i have 2 8800 gt's xfx factory oc'd, 2 gigs of pc2 6400 g-skill, a 750 watt power supply, and my new board (680i lt) gets here today. can anyone point me to a real simple guide on how to overclock my 6400? id appreciate it.
also how high can i expect it to go while being stable with...
