Unknown FPS. What HZ & resolution?

I used 1080 for years, until my monitor died last month. So i've goten used to 1080. But i'm wondering if my system can push out enough frames on 1440p. Unless you live in canada, I don't think that would be feasible. Shipping would be too costly.

Unknown FPS. What HZ & resolution?

I built a new system, but i'm using a shitty 1280x1024 hand-me-down monitor. So I don't know what my minimum FPS will be with a 1080, thus choosing a monitor is stressing me out. Should I even consider 60hz for my system? And is 144hz too high? It seems like 120hz isn't even...

    Fan wire splice (risky?)

I plugged it in a power adaptor and it spins. Not sure if it spins the right way though.

    Fan wire splice (risky?)

I found a 120mm fan in my junk-drawer and want to use it. But the 3 pin connector was torn off and long gone. So I grabbed a pin from a smaller fan and spliced it to my big fan. Red with Red Black with Black And yellow with blue. I'm guessing the blue wire is for controlling the fan...

    Card recommendation

The 390x is equivalent to a 980. And a 390 can be easily overclocked to equal a 390x. A 390 would be a wise choice. And get achieve similar specs to a 980 with a bit of tweaking. And cost half as much.

390 backplate vs No plate (thermals)

OK good, i'm glad someone saw what I saw. I thought I had missed something. And that's what i'm worried about, the plate restricting air-flow to the circuitboard. I guess i'll have to google for another hour. Sigh.,

390 backplate vs No plate (thermals)

I think I decided on a card. Now I have to choose between the older version without the plate, and a newer one with a backplate. I was googling for my answer and came across this review. But i'm not sure what to make of it. He claims that there's a 30 degree difference. But the guy is...

    390 MSI vs. Sapphire

^ That's a handly little chart. Is there one for the sapphire card?

    390 MSI vs. Sapphire

So if you had to do it all over again, would you buy the same card? maybe grab a 970 instead ?

    390 MSI vs. Sapphire

Hello folks. Does anyone have any knowledge on these two cards? Apparently they're decent, and top of the 390 list. But I want the quieter card since I have sensitive ears. Which one should I spring for?
