Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Just confirmed with Silverstone. So, FYI: these fans are in fact incompatible with ANY controller, except the built in one. Does not matter if the controller is PWM or voltage based, the problem is due to some kind of special electronics in the AP182 (actually runs at 12V all the time).
And that seems not to be true. I try to run this fan with an aquaero 6 XT controller - one of the most powerful on the market - and I cannot run the controller with anything below 6.2V / 1200 RPM. Of course I use Voltage control, not PWM.
If I drop Voltage under that value, the fans simply...
If you actually use one of the WS boards, you could upgrade to a recent XEON E5 v2, for up to 12 cores. Otherwise, I think on the i7 side you are already (almost) maxed out, so a 4960X wouldn't help too much imho.
Yeah, the accessoiries selection with the FT02 is also quite good, so this is actually the case I have now settled on ... if it weren't for the last remaining issue, and that is the question if the Noctua NH-U14S will fit.
Wasn't aware of the FP58 though, a slot loading drive would be at...
Thanks again for this quite interesting information! Just saw that slot 4 is only x8, so it seems that the GPU will be routed through the PLX chip in any case (also with single and dual setups).
The only remaining question remaining would be how great the performance hit actually is (with...
First of all, thanks for the insights Raja!
Ah so that could be a bit tricky - so would have a XEON / ECC setup have the same (potential) problems?
hard to say ... I mean an occasional crash would be tolerable, my main gripe would be corrupted data that goes unnoticed.
OK, I see. Of course...
Thanks for replying! Yes, I am looking at the WS board now.
Yeah, but the temp sensors make the difference. With the WS, you seem to have only CPU temps as an input source. But I think I'll go with a external controller anyway.
But the 4930K should be able to do that?
As for the RAM, you...
I'd also like to use the FT02 for an air cooling setup. Since I have a loaded X79 board, I like to avoid coolers that block my RAM. The CPU will be a 4930K, mildly(!) OCed.
My favorite cooler would be the Noctua NH-U14S, but: it is 165mm high, and the clearance due to Silverstone specs is...
Hi there,
plan to build an "all purpose workstation" that will be used mainly for software development and content creation, but also (occasional!) gaming. The machine should also be able to handle a lot of VMs for testing purposes.
Current plan is to equip it with a 4930k (mildly OCed)...
Yeah, nice case without question, but I fear that this is simply too small. Just look at the first picture I posted above. Quite tight!
So if I would go the Fractal route, I'd take it's bigger brother, the XL R2. Actually, a size in between the two would be perfect I think.
Ahhh too bad. And it also seems that the R4E can only control PWM fans. So I might need just another device *sigh*
So, are there any (temp controlled) fan controllers you guys could recommend?
You're welcome ;)
Yeah surely a nice case. It has this kind of subdued, clean & classy look, but is still unusual and original at the same time. Also I really like the layout, think this should cool very well. Still a bit wary of it's noise, dunno how silent it really is. And, at least with my plan to control all...
Think some designs of NZXT are a bit ... let's say "overstyled" but this one looks quite nice. On the other hand, also quite big (like the XL R2) but maybe not as quiet, even with good fans. Also, has a window ...
