Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I was having the hl2.exe crash described in the OP, and I got it fixed by doing the command prompt tip given here:

Worth a shot.
I didn't realize I would be in the minority in this (or perhaps I am a budding psychopath), but I would love to play an FPS that's as realistic and gory as a movie. Ever since the first time I played Soldier of Fortune, and then Soldier of Fortune 2, I've wanted to see how far the limits could...
I had been playing through Portal, and got to level 15, and now I can't get any farther. Why? Every time I try to load Portal, or any other HL2 game, through Steam it immediately crashes and Windows says:
hl2.exe has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution BUT IT WON'T FIX...
There's a good chance that I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I know it's possible to provide a fan with more power than it's intended to run on, and it goes really, really fast and noisy.

However I don't know about using two connectors, like in...
Mine is obnoxious and loud as hell. I don't think I would buy one again. If I happen to be trying to sleep when my computer decides to run a complete virus scan, you can be assured I will wake up and shut the damn thing off. It's only a tiny, tiny bit faster than a regular hard drive. I noticed...
That thing is like 18" long. What the crap...? That would NEVER fit in a regular person's case. My 8800GTX fits into my Lian Li case with about 5mm of clearance between it and the hard drive bays, this card is like 50% longer.
Seconding this. There's a time when enough is enough, and you just need to kick it with your friends. Go bowling, see a movie, go clubbing, get drunk, whatever works.
This happened after you installed the after market heatsink? Did you apply the thermal paste correctly? If that got goofed up it wouldn't really matter how good the heatsink is, 'cuz the heat isn't being transferred there very well at all.
Yes, there's a molex connector on the board next to the 24-pin, and that is connected. There's also an 8-pin connector on the upper left which was also plugged in.
Ok so the guy across the hall from me can't tie his own shoelaces without help (how did he get into college...?) and decided to build a new computer, so I'm reluctantly holding his hand through every step along the way. We've gotten everything assembled and properly plugged in (I looked it all...
Seconding this. Before I built my current computer, I had an AGP Radeon 9800 Pro pushing a Dell 2405FPW without any problems. Not blazing fast, but definitely gets the job done.
