New computer build, can't get the system to POST

Ok so the guy across the hall from me can't tie his own shoelaces without help (how did he get into college...?) and decided to build a new computer, so I'm reluctantly holding his hand through every step along the way. We've gotten everything assembled and properly plugged in (I looked it all over twice). When the system powers on, the fans all spin up but there's no picture on the screen and we never get a beep error code.

System specs:
Coolermaster Centurion case
Thermaltake Toughpower 700W modular PSU
Asus P5WDG2-WS motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6800
2 gigs OCZ Gold DDR2 memory
Western Digital Raptor 150GB hdd
Ati Radeon X1950 XTX
Creative Audigy 2

Things we've tried:
-Completely disassemble everything and put it back together
-Remove one stick of memory to see if it's bad, try the other stick
-Remove the processor and re-seat it and reinstall the heatsink
-Verify that all the case switch, LED, and speaker plugs are correct.
-Remove the video card

Right now I'm completely at a loss, and the only thing left that I can think of is a bad piece of hardware. Any ideas guys?

Yes, there's a molex connector on the board next to the 24-pin, and that is connected. There's also an 8-pin connector on the upper left which was also plugged in.

Pull everything out of the case and try a barebones setup.

Set everything up on a piece of wood, or cardboard, and start with just the cpu, ram and video card, and see if it will post. If it does, keep adding parts until you find the culprit.

Take it one step further: you do not need the video card in the PC to POST - it will give you a VGA error beep, but that's an improvement over what you have now (no beep at all).

Just install the CPU and a single stick of ram, absolutely nothing else, then do as-suggested above and set it up out of the case (on a non-conductive surface). If you don't get a POST beep, the motherboard is likely hosed. Dead processors are extremely rare, and two bum sticks of ram are very unlikely.

Be sure to try the other memory stick if the first fails.

Tried this, the computer powers on for a second then shuts off by itself. Sounds like a DOA board to me, are there any other possibilities?

That sounds like a short to me, or the CPU HSF isn't on properly. A doa mobo wouldn't spin the cpu fan... does it spin? Got another PSU you could try?
