Go-To SSD These Days
+1 Running a 900p as a boot disk and 2x 960 Pros in MS RAID for storage. Best of both worlds. Definite improvement in responsiveness after moving to the Intel drive vs the 960s.- Faikius

Which is More Important for Game Load Times: 4kQD1 or Sequential Read?
Trying to make a decision going forward for my current X299 build. Hosting two types of workloads, gaming and potentially a nested ESXi environment. Currently running a Samsung 850 PRO as an OS drive and two Samsung 960 PROs in Soft RAID as a data / install disk. Also have two Intel Optane 32GB...- Faikius

X299 and Storage Performance - VROC
No boot time numbers unfortunately. I can say booting from an install on a single Optane disk was noticeably faster than the other configs but we're talking a few seconds between configs.- Faikius

Intel VROC Confirmed Hot Garbage - Now With VROC Key
Finally received a VROC standard key and did a bit of testing with my ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme. First and foremost, non-Intel drives are not supported even with the key. Both in BIOS and via the IRSTe app they show as "not supported". Testing was done with two Intel Optane 32GB modules...- Faikius

Per Gigabyte, you have to have the key even for RAID 0. Have an 7820x, and two Samsung NVMe SSDs. Nada.- Faikius

For anyone curious, finally got an official response from Gigabyte Support. An Intel VROC key is required to enable any / all VROC functionality. Yes, for M2M_32G to be used in RAID setup require VROC function and VROC function is required to have Intel VROC key installed. Best Regards...- Faikius

Running a 7820x on a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 9, along with two Samsung 960 SSDs. Drives are populated based on the suggested configuration for VROC and after trying everything I can find online it's a no go. I can get the VROC menu to come up in BIOS but all that's listed in the menu is "No VMD...- Faikius
