    shipping a case

    just something you could try. foam all sides. bubblewrap the case. put flat boxes all around the case. tape tape and ship! +1 for everyone with their great ideas. FOAMs come in so many sizes but so hard to find?

    i've had this happen with my laptop. dv9820us. also my sony dru-18a seems to short off sometimes and not even detect it. i always thought could be psu or soemthing but its juss a little shortage with electricity in my case.

    your better off goin to a retail store to check it out. get esata if you have ports for it. i'm using usb 2.0 but thats ok as well but check the enclosure for transfer rates and how much space it can hold. other things also like airflow and what the enclosure is made of.

    that is a good question. although you can try to make a backup copy of your os into an iso and put it on the hard drive which is just a guess in my case. could try that but now what program can do that?

    sadly if you knew what docks are then yeah. enclosures are great also but who wants to carry that around. don't go with the Pre-BUILTS! they die on people after a couple of years or maybe even months and theres no way to retrieve the data. tried many times and yeah people send it in for RMA...
