Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm using a low profile Dell Inspiron 530S as an HTPC (Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB) with a 3 year old GeForce 8400GS (DDR2 512MB) that just died. I'm now trying to find a replacement low profile PCI Express video card for the rig. It doesn't need to be anything spectacular, but I would like to be able to...
No there's no standard 4 pin molex on the power supply. There are only 4 SATA connectors and one floppy connector. Although I now wonder if I might be able to find a floppy to fan adapter instead.....
I'm trying to mod an additional fan into one of my machines. I'm looking for a SATA to 3-pin fan adapter cable to use to power the fan. Are there any companies that sell these? I've had a really hard time finding one on the typical tech/modding websites.
My backup is to use 2 cables; SATA to...
I just opened up the power supply and reversed that fan. From the looks of it the fan was in fact seated backward. Both fans on the power supply blew outward, which I know is wrong.
I do have another fan (60mm stealth) that I'm planning to use to increase airflow in this area of the case...
The fan is definitely blowing in, which seems like an odd design in retrospect.
I've seen slot blowers but the case is low profile and I haven't been able to locate a low profile slot blower anywhere, they seem to only come in standard case sizes.
I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in the Overclocking/cooling forum, so admins please feel free to move this if appropriate.
I'm running an Inspiron 530s as seen here (not my rig, just a photo I found online). One problem I've had with the system is that the power supply blows...
I've been running my HTPC for a while now but have only recently started using it for PC gaming as well (Dell Inspiron 530S, duo 2.4GHz, 4GB, nVidia 8400GS). I was running through some diagnostics recently and noticed that the GPU is getting REALLY hot, even at low/no load. At first I thought it...
I recently upgraded my HTPC from XP to Win 7 Home Premium and decided to try out Windows Media Center (I had been using GB-PVR). Overall I like the layout and my wife finds it very easy to use. However we've found a couple of problems with video playback. Most notably a significant decrease in...
I avoid flash as much as humanly possible while surfing. I can't stand how flash ads can cause a website to come to a total crawl, sometimes even with a duo core processor. It's ridiculous and I use a number of flash blockers to avoid them.
At the moment the models that I'm looking at are...
Is there any way to setup a USB thumb drive so that it always has the same drive letter over multiple computers (running XP, Vista and Win7), without using the 'USB Drive Letter Manager' software? I was hoping that there may be some way to do it with an .ini file or something. Any suggestions...
I'm thinking about getting a netbook but I'm having trouble deciding which model to purchase. I need to keep the cost below $300. I've been looking mostly at two models;
Dell Mini 1018 (Atom N455 1.66GHz, 1GB DDR3 SDRAM, 160GB SATA 5400 RPM hard drive, 10.1" Widescreen Display (1024x600)...
Within 2 moths of my warranty expiring the LCD on my 4 year old laptop is beginning to die so I'm starting to look for a new machine. I don't do much processor intensive work at home anymore, and I'm trying to save money, so I'm looking at netbooks and low end laptops.
Does anyone have...
After wrestling with this for hours I finally found a solution that looks like it works to save the settings after closing the control panel and rebooting.
Open nVidia control panel
Make adjustment
Run television setup wizard (the screen will reset)
Make the same adjustment a second time...
