    Do you leave aim on when you are playing games? You shouldnt. Do you use a firewall and/or antivirus? That could be the cause of it. Latest drivers? Have you run memtest? Maybe your ram isnt installed properly.

    The old one went bad, it wasn't reading particular types of files, or burning them after like 5 yrs.... but it never had any problems at all before that. I guess my last step is to return the burner, and try a different brand. Many thanks!

    Sorry, forgot to add that I ran memtest as well with no errors. 512mb ram total. Have not tried it on any other PC since I dont have one close or accessable. But my old Teac 8x ran excellent for 5 years.
