Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
So I just bought my first SSD, which I want to use as my operating system drive. I haven't installed the SSD yet, and I am currently using a single HDD split into two partitions (one as an OS partition, and the other as a "data" partition).
My question is, if I reformat ONLY the OS...
What are your temps like? I'm not sure if my card is defective or if its normal for this card, but I'm running around 45-50C idle and up to 85C on full load, which seems pretty damn hot to me. Bit worried about that.
Yeah, I bought these, and just got them. Seems to be working fine. I'm pretty sure they're refurbished though, because there were some little scratches on the plastic part of the card.
Oh, and the card is humongous, so make sure you have space in your case before buying. I barely managed to...
One monitor right now at 1680x1050, but an upgrade to a 1080p monitor is not too far off in the future, so I want to plan for that.
I'd like to be able to play BF3 at High settings at least.
Right now I only plan to use a single card, but I will probably end up buying another (used) card for...
So, I just upgraded to a i5-2500k system (from a Pentium 4 system ). I haven't gotten a video card yet and I'm having trouble choosing one.
I'm willing to spend between $250-350 on it. What's important to me is price/performance.
The cards I'm thinking about right now are:
560ti...
Put together a new computer recently and it all went well except for one little thing:
My case has a 2-pin connection for the case power LED, but my motherboard needs a 3-pin connection.
Has anyone ever encountered this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? Otherwise, I won't have a power LED...
Stupid question but, how exactly are you forcing your CPU to use a certain amount of cores like that? Is this something you have to specific in the BIOS or something? Is my 2500k not actually running on 4 cores by default?
I did a lot of googling on this, and got a lot of mixed answers.
Some people just put a drop in the middle. Some people do a vertical line. Others do two vertical lines. Some do an X cross shape. Some people do the credit card spreading method.
To make things even more confusing, some...
Wait, I just realized that the cpu cooler I received has a tube of thermal paste with it. (CoolerMaster Hyper 212+).
I have no idea if it's good quality paste though, anyone know? And should I just use this instead of the old Arctic Silver 5 I have?
Well the problem here is that I live in Hawaii, and I'll get hit with +$20 shipping for even a tiny little thermal paste tube.
Is there a way I can just push some of the paste out onto a piece of paper, or something, and figure out by its color, consistency, thickness, etc., whether or not...
I found this arctic silver paste that I used on my previous build almost 5 years ago. Is this thing still usable? Do these things degrade in quality over time?
I have a lightly used 3850 AGP for sale, if you're still interested. Just FYI, the 3850 edges out the 4650, especially in higher resolutions. Considering how outdated AGP is now, it's pretty safe to say that there will never be a faster AGP card than the 3850.
