So I just bought my first SSD, which I want to use as my operating system drive. I haven't installed the SSD yet, and I am currently using a single HDD split into two partitions (one as an OS partition, and the other as a "data" partition).

My question is, if I reformat ONLY the OS partition, but not the data partition, should I be able to somehow easily merge these two partitions into a single partition without losing any data in the "data" partition?

Yes, with a program like easus partition master. But backup first!
