    Win 8.1 network woes

Tried this, and yet, connecting by clicking \\COMPUTERNAME in Network is still hit or miss. It worked a couple days ago all day, then recently it just stopped. I've tabled the issue for now and just decided to map the network location. Thanks for everyone's help. Maybe later when I have more...

    Win 8.1 network woes

Yeah, it's a really REALLY weird situation. Funny thing is it really only started happening recently. I just tried turning IPv6 off for BOTH computers, and no luck. RDP works just by right clicking the W7 computer name in Network and then clicking "Connect with Remote Desktop Connection". I...

    Win 8.1 network woes

So, I'm not sure if this is the right area to ask this, but I shall anyway. Mods, please move if need be. I have a new laptop running Win 8.1 connected via WiFi on my network that also has a Win 7 computer connected via Ethernet. Both computer are on the same workgroup, but not homegroup (and...

    New Razor 14"

Yeah, I'm not sure how they increased the heat output by 33%. TDP of the 765m was 75w and the TDP of the 870m is 100w. I have the RB14v1, and unless the fans are covered, they don't ramp up that much. I'm guessing that the fans now probably ramp up much more and go full power on full load. Mine...

    New Razor 14"

Damn really? Must be made of money, or you find that the screen is really lacking that much. I'm on the v3 boat: Broadwell, screen, Maxwell, 16GB, and Displayport. If they just waited for Broadwell and instead of HDMI used Displayport/Thunderbolt, I would pick one up as well.

    New Razor 14"

The RAM is soldered to the motherboard. They just may not have had enough room for the extra chips. I have the RB14v1 and I have yet to experience this. Does it get hot? Yes, especially at the hinge, since the air exhausts from there. Does the aluminum around the power button get hot? VERY...

Better late than never. And you know this party is going to be going on for a loooong time.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

FWIW, I had my case shipped to Arcadia. Arrived on the 24th to the local post office. I definitely have no idea what's going on with the other Los Angeles-bound cases. I got my in good condition. A couple of nicks on the outer box, but the actual box was pretty much excellent.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

#306 here in Los Angeles, CA. Just picked it up from the PO. I'll probably open it later tonight or tomorrow, but I won't transplant / upgrade until the new year. Pretty damn excited about this case more than any other that I've had. HUUUUGE hands off to Necere and W360 for not only getting...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I got mine delivered on the 24th. It's sitting at the USPS facility though since I was out of town. I was shipping #26. You should be getting yours very very soon.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

When I get mine, I'll let you know. I'm planning on attempting to run dual AIOs. As of right now, most probably with two Corsair H75's. Sure, it may be a tubing nightmare, but I say screw the naysayers and try it anyway. If it doesn't work, I'll just keep one and leave my CPU air cooled. Either...

    Cooling the Blade

If you're convinced the laptop isn't throttling, and in conjunction with the problem you described, it might be best just to RMA the thing. It sounds like there could be some sort of hardware error or maybe it really is getting so hot that the keyboard or something is malfunctioning.

    Cooling the Blade

Well, here's what you're not getting... what you're experience ISN'T A PROBLEM. Read every single review and watch every single YouTube review of the Blade 14 and you'll begin to see a trend. Every Blade 14 experiences this. It may be a design "flaw", but it's how it was designed and it's how it...

    Cooling the Blade

Place a damp towel underneath the cooling pad. Assuming the cooling pad blows upwards, you'll be slightly cooling the air going into the computer. Aside from this, the only other suggestion I would have is possibly try to undervolt the CPU/GPU. These suckers are known to run hot, so there's...

What are the best tablets for taking notes?

Surface Pro 1 or 2. That would be my suggestion. With OneNote as well. Don't worry about "converting" your notes to text, and just save your written notes. I did this all through college as I was a biochem major and for all my chem/physics classes used my tablet pc (IBM X41t) to take notes using...
