Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Great servicing is an understatement...the reason I needed to use the (faulty) recovery DVD was that the system had slowed/grown unresponsive AFTER I installed Eset's newest security program (the second time this has happened to me, different systems...as much as I like Eset, I think they've...
Sorry for my delayed response...to make a long story short:
After two weeks of bliss with the new build, I encountered a problem, and the recovery DVD they had sent was faulty. The PC went back to Origin and they quickly found a defective memory chip. Replaced the chip, rebuilt the HD image...
Someone asked if the folks at Origin weren't former employees of Alienware. My understanding is that the group founding Origin is the same group that originally founded Alienware...so not so much former employees but former owners.
Heather, as many here will attest, is one of the best around...
...But I don't work for Origin PC...the same build on Alienware was $200.00 more than what I spent and didn't give me the case options, the heatsink I wanted, nor a second optical drive. I posted simply to share what was an excellent experience with a relatively new company with the readers...
...but I have to wonder from your comments if you even read my post...for example, I DID go with an Asus board. I didn't go for flames painted on the side - or any special paint for that matter...and I priced a similar rig from Alienware when shopping (as well as rigs from Digital Storm...
Received my Origin PC yesterday...and I couldn't be happier with the company. I'm not a professional reviewer, but I have a good bit of experience with PCs (teaching tech skills and managing an educational computer lab for over 20 years)...here's my take on Origin PC:
The PC: Lian Li A70F...
And there pricing is great..but they don't answer ANY inquiries. After several e-mails to them I gave up...if they won't respond to communications to them during the sales process, what would they do AFTER they have your money?
Standard: Stage 1: Insta-foam packaging creates a custom mold inside of your system to protect your internal components from moving during shipping. This protection is key against your system being dropped or taking any type of shock or impact.
Stage 2: Every ORIGIN system is placed inside a...
I completely understand that I could have done the build myself and saved about 20-25% of the cost. It's a matter of choice. I like the idea of having a system warranty, and Origin offers an excellent one; 1st year labor and parts, they pay for shipping both ways, lifetime labor and support...
For several weeks now I've been looking at purchasing a new PC; my last, from 4 years ago, was from Velocity Micro, and while I've been very happy with it, their ratings have slowly dropped over time as they've expanded. I narrowed my choices down to DigitalStorm, MainGear, Puget Systems...
Ballistic Gaming PCs is, as some have suspected, a sister company to Digital Storm (this came in an acknowledgment from an inquiry to Digital Storm). Different, but associated company...different warranty. Might be an interesting choice. Anyone here buy from them yet?
John
I'm going to be buying a new rig...and was wondering if anyone had experiences with either of these two new builders. I've been able to read a couple of reviews about Origin, very little about Ballistic. I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments you'd care to share.
Disappointed with V4...BSOD's with Vista SP1 (assuming firewall issues), incompatibilities with Vista SP2 that are as of yet unresolved...not sure I want to rollback to V3. Any suggestions for a suite that:
a) Will scan e-mail with sbcglobal (SSL connection)?
b) Small footprint, small hit on...
Went to a command prompt; tried to ping www.velocitymicro.com and could not (kept timing out)...tried disabling NOD32, still no luck...have no idea what putting my PC in the DMZ means (sorry...hadn't encountered that one yet!).
