Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I've been using a Promise 8350 RAID card in my workstation for about 3 years now without any issues. I recently upgraded my setup and tried to put the card into my new i7 box, with an ASUS P6T Deluxe MB and an i7-920. When I put the card it, I can't boot Windows. I can see the card in the BIOS...
I have had no issues at all with two Intel X25-M 1st gen drives. They're hammered daily on our database server without any issues, going on over 1 year now.
You might not see as much of an improvement on a regular desktop, but it's night and day on a server. I have a Xeon 5500 series server at work with 12GB of RAM running MS Server 08 and it is stupendously fast running two Intel X25M 80GB drives. Boot up for our old server running (admittedly, not...
I didn't see any soundcards, but then again, I wasn't really looking for soundcards. They only had a little bit of lame stuff left- the stuff that was maybe worthwhile:
Netgear 16 and 24 port gigabit switches
A few draft-N wireless routers
Vista Business and Home Basic
Office for Mac...
Not much left at all- I snagged a copy of Vista Business for my non-gaming PC- full version at 50% off- $150. Got a Logitech G7 for something like $60 and a Monster phone charger for $12. This was at the Montgomeryville and King of Prussia, PA stores.
Did you get one and get a 1GHz OC?
I'm at 681/719, now the core clock goes higher and memory hardly goes anywhere (I had a "driver crash" that killed the display and required manual restart). Before the crash, I was at 675 core 775 memory, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. This is using the...
All I know is that I just got a 8600GT and it runs just fine, at 1280x1024, 4x AA, all eye candy on.
If I turn the texture size to max, things get choppy, though. I don't think you can run really high res. on this card, nor can you run with everything totally maxed, but for a $120 card, it's...
How big of an OC are you all getting with the GTS?
I wonder how big the gap is between the GT and GTS. I have no problem OCing the GT to stock GTS speed for the core, doesn't look like the memory is up to par, though- maxed at 775, haven't tried too much just yet, won't voltmod it.
evga 8600gt from circuit city this week- $150 w/ $30 MIR.
Runs NWN2 with med. size textures, all eye candy on, at 1280x1024, very smooth. Go to large textures and it gets too choppy (memory bandwidth?).
I was in the same boat, kind of- had to get a single-slot card for my Dell box...
I think the version of ntune I'm using was dated something like 4/26. I'll have to go back and check if there is a newer version than that.
Mine definitely had a test settings button- you switch to manual control of core and memory speeds and the test settings button is right there, by the...
EVGA 8600 GT from CC for $150 less rebate, couldn't pass up the cheap upgrade.
First attempt, using latest nTune, got 675 core, 775 memory. Not sure if this is stable, as it has acted weird- I used to be able to alt-tab out of games to the desktop and do other stuff and then alt-tab back into...
Going into a Dell- I can't run a 8800GTS because it simply won't fit. I need a single-slot video card.
Currently, I have a 6600GT in there, so anything better would be a big improvement, I think.
What do you all think? 8600GT? GTS?
I don't do FPS, but NWN2 slows down a ton when there...
That's good to know that the Earthwatts isn't bad- it was $50 after MIR, nice cheap upgrade for the Dell. However, my other rig is running a TP2-550, which I think is one of the PSUs that is problematic. That's why I'm thinking of replacing that one with a Corsair.
Running 5 HDs, two optical...
