I know I read of a reg hack or something that allows you to "watch" XP startup by hitting escape during the boot logo. It then shows the machine loading drivers, etc.
Im currently trying to figure out why XP takes a while to startup on my machine (which it didnt do before I re-ghosted it...
I actually have mine running faster than that at 2.8V (ddr514) and the only time it gets REALLY hot is when Im Prime-ing the machine or running Memtest. Other than that it stays fairly warm.
I suppose it has something to do with the air circulation in your case. I think my RAM gets cooled...
Plat Rev 2 is TCC5/TCCD and is pretty "fragile" when it comes to voltage. I know the OCZ guys recommend no higher than 3.0V. I dont know if the chips would die instantly, but Id try to keep it as low as possible. Also might want to make sure you get air flowing around the modules.

Opened my new Antec case (with SmartPower 2.0 500W PSU), and there was a smell coming from it! Unfortunately, to me, it smelt like burnt electrical (my wife, however, says Im nuts and that it just smells like new plastic).
