PC Gaming and Music: True 5.1 Sound Using Digital Connection?

Hmmm, I'm a noob to surround audio on the PC since I just bought my first real receiver - is it completely impossible to get any multichannel output from some motherboards sporting coax and optical outputs? In particular I've never gotten anything other than a stereo signal out of my KN1...

Which (future) 24" LCD can do it all?

Well, since it's been confirmed that neither the current 24-inch offering from BenQ nor their forthcoming "Z" model will support 1:1 pixel mapping or scaling which preserves the aspect ratio of the source signal, does any manufacturer have a product available now or in the works that is truly...

Official BenQ FP241W Thread !!! Info, Pictures, Reviews

Beat me to it. You can observe this by playing a DVD in a software player on your PC in windowed mode. When and how will we know if this display distorts widescreen external inputs? (And what about HDMI?)

So, we still: Haven't gotten any measurements of input lag, and Haven't gotten any definitive answer on stretching of 1080p signals Right?

Official BenQ FP241W Thread !!! Info, Pictures, Reviews

Wow... you would think that at some point, after the date has slipped 4 or 5 times, that they would just stop claiming to know when it will be in stock. I fully expect to get to late November and then find out that it won't be for sale until "Q1 2007".

    Matte vs. Glossy

Why are glossy finishes appearing on LCDs? Do some people really MISS having all the GLARE they were accustomed to with their CRTs? I'm told that the glossy coating somehow improves the black level, but I can't imagine that the difference would be dramatic enough to make having all of the...

    New dell, seems wierd :)

If you're using DVI then the problem is most likely with your visual cortex and not your display. If the CRT you were using before was really convex and you've only been using your display for an hour or so then it's probably your brain.

Since the 2407 is crap, which 23,24" for gaming?

Since the Dell 2407 turned out to be worthless for gaming, what are the other 23 to 24 inch widescreen panels on (or soon to be on) the market that should have appropriate response time and low enough input lag for proper gaming?

Really long (30 - 50 ft) DVI cables?

Thanks for the info all - glad I can get away with spending a few bucks on a long cable instead of a few hundred on a quiet case and fans. :D

Really long (30 - 50 ft) DVI cables?

I am definitely planning on a 1920 x 1200 display. I will check out the recommendations, thanks.

Really long (30 - 50 ft) DVI cables?

My "silent PC" solution was to get really long USB and VGA extension cables and put the thing in a different room. I hope to purchase a new display soon, but am concerned about being able to keep my current solution. I have seen places that offer 50 foot DVI cables, but are these within spec...
