    SAPPHIRE ATI 4870 HD 512MB

Its a great card, your PSU should be fine. Another good option is the 4830, it is much cheaper and will probably run your games just fine (esp if you oc it a bit). Stock its 575mhz, but oc's to around 800mhz and 1100mhz on the memory (i.e. faster than a stock 4850). Also, I'd guess that for most...

Windows 7 Sleep / Shutdown Problems

Mine is working fine with regard to sleep, but I've only had my install since last thurs.

    When is it time?

I'd probably stick with your current rig and wait for i7 prices to drop more. Go ahead and snag the new drives and OS, you can always put them in your next system. (you could try windows 7 rather than buying 64 in hope that a retail version of 7 will be available whenever the beta dies).

FS: 2 ASUS hd 4830 cards

That would depend on what games you play. On a GPU intensive game, yes, on a CPU bound game (like FSX perhaps) probably not.

Is there a program to view Microsoft Word w/o MSW?

Open office, free, works great. I've also used google docs, great for a quick view and you don't have to DL or install anything.

Massive Supercomputer to Manage Nuclear Stockpile

I would guess they mostly work on the effects of aging on the weapons. Nuclear material and explosives change over time. Because there's sort of a ban on testing, they run lots of simulations to try to understand the effects of the aging process on the performance and safety of the weapons. In...

Massive Supercomputer to Manage Nuclear Stockpile

They do, but they are pretty much constantly working on upgrading.

Massive Supercomputer to Manage Nuclear Stockpile

Its really more to model certain aspects of nuclear physics than to manage anything fyi. LANL really, really likes fancy computers and pushes the boundaries on how much hardware they can justify. For kicks grab the public budget docs and look at how much they've spent on computers in the past...

What Would Happen With No Google?

Life would suck, but would still go on. Live can handle search duties, not being able to check my gmail account would suck as would not having my gmail imaped school account (can get to it without gmail, but use gmail for imap to sync multiple outlook accounts).

    Still having RAID problems!

Check the power saver settings, there is often an option to have drives spin down after a certain amount of time. Vista 64 should have the needed raid drivers natively.

how to control the speed of the fan?

Did you ever get this sorted? I've got the same issue with a CNPS9500 and a P5K-deluxe wifi. Even with the fan plugged into the cpu fan header I can't control the speed of the fan in the bios (can change the bios settings, but the fan still spins 100% all the time) or via speedfan.

Intel Pentium E5400 Overclockers Dream Budget Proc.

I'm loving my E5200. 1.272v and 3.4 is stable and fast enough for me:)

That worked great, up and running now:)

    CPU usage too high?

I think that's normal. Mine spikes up to about 36% for an instant when I load a new page. It doesn't stay there long. Probably less than a second.

    Looking for a new case

I just built a rig in the CM 690 and like it so far. Its on the big end of a mid-tower, but quite a lot of room in side and 5 internal 3.5" slots (tooless) and 5 external 5.25" slots (also tooless). It has mounts for 5x 140mm fans (or smaller) and 2x 120mm fans (or smaller) and 1x 80mm fan...
