Its a great card, your PSU should be fine. Another good option is the 4830, it is much cheaper and will probably run your games just fine (esp if you oc it a bit). Stock its 575mhz, but oc's to around 800mhz and 1100mhz on the memory (i.e. faster than a stock 4850). Also, I'd guess that for most...
I'd probably stick with your current rig and wait for i7 prices to drop more. Go ahead and snag the new drives and OS, you can always put them in your next system. (you could try windows 7 rather than buying 64 in hope that a retail version of 7 will be available whenever the beta dies).
I would guess they mostly work on the effects of aging on the weapons. Nuclear material and explosives change over time. Because there's sort of a ban on testing, they run lots of simulations to try to understand the effects of the aging process on the performance and safety of the weapons. In...
Its really more to model certain aspects of nuclear physics than to manage anything fyi. LANL really, really likes fancy computers and pushes the boundaries on how much hardware they can justify. For kicks grab the public budget docs and look at how much they've spent on computers in the past...
Life would suck, but would still go on. Live can handle search duties, not being able to check my gmail account would suck as would not having my gmail imaped school account (can get to it without gmail, but use gmail for imap to sync multiple outlook accounts).
Check the power saver settings, there is often an option to have drives spin down after a certain amount of time.
Vista 64 should have the needed raid drivers natively.
Did you ever get this sorted? I've got the same issue with a CNPS9500 and a P5K-deluxe wifi. Even with the fan plugged into the cpu fan header I can't control the speed of the fan in the bios (can change the bios settings, but the fan still spins 100% all the time) or via speedfan.
I just built a rig in the CM 690 and like it so far. Its on the big end of a mid-tower, but quite a lot of room in side and 5 internal 3.5" slots (tooless) and 5 external 5.25" slots (also tooless). It has mounts for 5x 140mm fans (or smaller) and 2x 120mm fans (or smaller) and 1x 80mm fan...
This is my first time using the Intel Matrix RAID system (was using an AMD board with software RAID prior) and Windows 7. I have 7 installed on a single system disk (1tb samsung) and have 3 WD5000YS drives also installed. I would like to RAID-0 the three500gb drives and then set them as my...
I just did a clean install. FSX is working as well as the usual FF3 etc already mentioned.
AS for not working, I can't get any of the Asus utilities to instal ("AI Utility Suite"). P5k-Deluxe Wifi mobo.
IE is installed, but not working well. [H] shows up blank half the time or more, no...
They are bigger and slower. The Green model is a 5400 rpm drive IIRC. It is intended to provide cool, quite, reliable storage but isn't designed for maximum performance. Even so it is probably faster than most older 7200rpm drives with much lower platter densities.
Also, for anyone who's...
Ah ok, gotchya! In that case, definitely the 1066 will be more than enough:)
I would do a P5Q-E (or any of the models with the extra heat sink) or a UD3P for p45 boards. I know less about the x48 boars.
I think it really depends on the games you play. If they are older, more cpu dependent games like FSX have a look at the CPU (and you might consider something like the E5400 as it will allow very high OC's with low FSB due to the huge multiplier). If you play newer games that will fully utilize...
If you can't seat the card with the mobo out of the case its definitely not the case. Are you sure your card is PCI-Express not AGP? If its a PCI-E card it should go in just fine. Just take care to line everything up. The little blue tab that holds it in at the back has to be bent over a bit to...
You'll get no real advantage with 1200 over 1066 and for that matter you will probably not even get any advantage over 800 in the real world. Save your $$ for other things:)
Just for the record I'm a bit confused over what you are building. A p5Q-pro mobo is socket 775 and will not run an i7...
That should be a good one, as would be a xigmatech 1283 or a TRU-120 - all popular and seem to cool well enough for very good OC's. Make sure you have a backplate for whatever you get as some don't come with them and require you get the backplate separately.
have fun!
I'd have gone with an attractive nuisance defense - ya know how if you leave a trampoline out in your front lawn and kids play on it you can be liable and they (usually) can't be nailed with trespassing (not saying I like this set of laws, just describing them). Well, NASA has got to be a hugely...
If you have the side pannels off you can squeeze the front on quite easily:)
I put a thin layer of silicone lube on the plastic pins and that made it a bit smoother. Still very tight, but not as sticky feeling.
You should be able to find a 4850 512mb for about $120 if you shop around a lot (the egg had them for 114 AR a while ago) otherwise the 4830 512mb is a great card and is more typically found in that range and is a great card. I just got a sapphire 4830 from the egg for $84 AR:)
hmm, BYU and no mention of controlling for self-selection resulting in reverse causation.... I vote lame attempt to publish something to get/maintain tenure ;)
I route all my stuff though a gmail account. That way it catches the spam and makes for a very nice web-mail option when I'm away from my outlook machines.
imho its not really worth going with DDR3 on a socket 775 board. The EP45-UD3P or Asus P5Q-E with DDR2 should work out pretty much the same in terms of performance and would save you a lot of $$. I'd probably up it to 8gb for good measure as the ram is quite inexpensive.
The PSU you've...
My cable company charges extra for the modem at a rate such that if you are going to have it for more than a year it is cheaper to own your own. A few years ago I bought a motorola surfboard and a WRT54G. The Surfboard has been totally trouble free. The WRT54G has always worked, but has been a...
