I paid $780 for 8 MB Fast Page Mode DRAM for my 486 in 1995 so my Windows 95 would have 16 MB DRAM. You have never been able to get so much compute for your money as today. Stop whining and take another look at the past.

Switched to Linux (Ubuntu 26.04). I think it's finally good enough to be a daily driver. It's not perfect, but it's stable. We'll see if an update changes my assessment of that. Using KDE Plasma and Rustdesk on my Ubuntu server. Had same...

I love how US companies are somehow beholden to every request from the government, and somehow in control of the government. All while managing to flout the laws to do what they want which is usually telling the government to F-Off.

It's not sudden as the pot has been boiling the frog since Windows 10. Windows 10 added so much telemetry data collection that it's the only reason I would avoid using Windows 10. Windows 11 only turbo charged this with Microsoft online account...

Bearing in mind this is deliberate, big tech knows to hook them while they're young as muscle memory is hard to relearn as you become older. Hence the reason why MS Office and the Adobe Suite is usually free to primary > high school students.

This is a Wayland problem. You can do this with KDE Plasma. Wayland prevents this for security reasons. Pretty stupid reasons but it's done by design.

all the Linux ones have problems. Remote Desktop is good if you have access to the desktop. But not if you want security of people not seeing your screen. Remote Login is good if you don’t have physical access to the machine or you don’t want...

I wish them the best because Fuck Microsoft.... But in the case of France, it's a Government project..... It's already resulted in a data breach that leaked 700,000 taxpayer identities; what it does, though, is give a massive government contract...
