S/PDIF Optical from Xbox 360 to PC

Possibly, Your digital inputs on the Shuttle are most likely only 2 channel input. I am unsure but your X-Box may contain a encoded surround output. They may not be compatible or you may be able to set the output on the X-Box. Try it out you won't hurt anything. The only thing you may have...

Vista and XFi Xtreme Gamer, no digital out

Those 3.5 to dual RCA cables work as a quick fix on the Audigy 2 BUT, they may not work on the X-fi's. Creative labs has a small Digital I/O module that is very cheap and should be good for what you want. Have a look here...

HT Omega Claro+ vs. Auzentech Prelude

I use a 8788 card and Vista and the card sounds great. No issues I have noticed.

HT Omega Claro+ vs. Auzentech Prelude

The Prelude has "souped up" Opamps out of the box also. It uses LM4562 for the front channels and the OPA2134 for all the rest. Both are very nice opamps.

    Auzentech X-Meridian for Vista

For sound quality the driver is great. It could use the addition of a few more settings. Great soundcard BTW.

    Computer Digital Audio

The Sondigo inferno is a 8788 cards and offers Dolby Digital Live and DTS-connect for around $70. That is a great deal for the feature set and they make great HTPC cards.

going from a audigy 2 to a X-Meridian worth it?

I went from the Audigy 2 to the X-Meridian 7.1 and the X-Meridian is amazing compared to the Audigy 2. I use them both now and I have EAX running through the X-Meridian.
