• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Why isnt my ISP letting me route my cable connection...

Or turn off DHCP on your router and let the modem do it (if it has the ability). Also see what your router's gateway is and log into modem using that IP. Check the settings and make sure everything is set up right.

    Thinking about blocking Doubleclick

There's also a good program I use called HostsMan that makes blocking ads for all browsers easy. However, if you have a web filtering appliance/server installed (which it sounds like you do) then you should rely solely on that to allow you to manage it centrally.

    Thinking about blocking Doubleclick

Doubleclick is one of the largest ad servers. You should block it and your users will experience no adverse effect aside from having holes where there used to be ads.

Dumb Question: How fast is 10mbit?

I hate Charter. They are overpriced and continually bump up prices every couple months and claim it is to provide better value. Luckily, I am moving into a new house in less than a week and will be switching to AT&T

file sharing doesn't quite work. please help!

Change the laptop to a different workgroup and then change it back, I've seen computers act screwy like that and resetting that sometimes works. Spacekeeter made a few good suggestions, make sure you tried what he said.

    Networking Vista -> XP

Could possibly be your cabling or maybe an update to your NIC drivers might help? Open up the properties of your connection under Network Connections and see what speed it claims it is connected at.

    WSUS / Automatic Updates Question

Okay, so since I specified Auto Download and Schedule install in the GPO, it won't matter if they don't have admin rights, it will install them anyways at the scheduled time?

    WSUS / Automatic Updates Question

Okay, the local computers are starting to show up on the WSUS console. Do I have to push updates to the systems, or will they automatically update when they check for updates? Users do not have administrative priviledges on their local systems.

You can also go into the Security Center in Control Panel and click Change the way security center alerts me. Then just uncheck whatever you like.

Is this what a switch is for????

Yea, that will be sufficient for what you are wanting to do. If there's an uplink port on the switch when you get it, then plug the main cable coming from your router into it and then plug the two PCs into the other ports.

Hi all, I am currently in the process of implementing a WSUS server into our domain. I have the majority of everything set up, and am getting ready to change the group policies for the specific groups I want to apply this to. My question is this: WSUS will allow updates to be applied to...

Which brand Router support x64 Windows XP?

It's good that you are doing your research before you upgrade, but Gambit is right. The only problem you may have is if you were actually using the software that comes on the CD when you buy a router. 99% of home routers are configurable by logging into them via a web browser. To put it...
