I'm not familiar with how scaling works on the FW900-has anyone tested out the Dark Souls resolution fix, or is there any reason it wouldn't work? I tried custom downscaling in Amnesia once (with an AMD card) but the image did not actually scale down and I was left staring at the middle of the...
7870 Hawk with 2 phases for the memory. Googling this memory though, Hynix H5GQ2H24MFR-T2C, I'm a bit confused why it's running default at 1200@1.6V when it seems like it's rated 1250@1.5V.
I don't think the poor overclock is a problem with my system either cause I had another 7870 Hawk that I...
So I ended up with a 7870 that doesn't overclock very much, but I've noticed that I can increase my memory clockspeed to at least 1325MHz after raising my memory to 1.65V from the stock 1.6V. Afterburner tops out at 1.7V-is this safe for the memory? I can't find any info on raising the memory...
Bit of an update here, I ended up RMAing the Hawk. It took the full two weeks to get back to me, but I was out of town so it wasn't a problem. I got sent a different card; not sure if it's a refurb or a new card, but they included a new retail box and the certificate, cables etc. The ASIC...
Yeah, the fans on the lightning are 100mm, afaik the hawk ones are 80mm. The lightning PCB/Shroud is actually wider than a regular one, so it's a bit hard to tell by eyeballing it.
I gotta say though, I like the aesthetics of these newer Twin Frozrs over the older ones.
So after applying some Shin-Etsu G751, idles dropped to 29C, and running around in CS Source, temps settle at 69-70C with fan at 55%. Portal 1 reaches 71C and ramps up to 62% fanspeed. Just tested Morrowind too, and it got up to 66C at 52% fanspeed. I didn't do a great job at removing the old...
Does this work for CRTs? I tried this out using a tool for AMD cards but it doesn't downscale the image so I'm looking at the very center of the image when I start up a game and choose the resolution. There aren't any options in the control panel to turn off scaling for an analog display rather...
Scratch my earlier estimate of the idle, cause after letting it sit for a while it seems like the idle temp is 35C which is a lot better. Removing the side panel lowered load temps by about 3-4C in Portal 2 from 79-80C to 76-77C and the fan from 86% to 76%. I think I'll definitely contact MSI...
Looking at the 7850 Twin Frozr heatsink, this one for the 7870 looks a lot more substantial so I'd expect it to have similar or better cooling characteristics accounting for the higher TDP. Right now my card is idling at 49-52C...not sure if it could be the heatsink's not properly mounted. Is...
I set up this card yesterday. Performance is nice, almost more than I expected, and there seems to be a lot of headroom with the small amount of testing I did so far. Drivers are perfect after simply uninstalling the previous Cats and installing the June 6 betas. But the card is running really...
Thanks for letting me know. I'd assumed the adapter could work both ways...which probably says how much I know about this stuff. I'll look into the RGB cable then.
If I wanted to play my SNES using the FW900, am I correct in assuming that it's not as simple as using an adapter cable? Would this convertor work: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011407&p_id=4724&seq=1&format=2
for either the SNES S-video cable or...
I only use the monitor for my computer use, so I was just annoyed at the prospect of having to switch out the connectors every time I wanted to watch a BD. And it significantly changes the PQ? I guess I'll have to pick up an HDCP screen like you said.
Thanks guys.
I have just enough room in this apartment for the CRT, so I won't be getting a big tv anytime soon ;)
But from this thread though, it looks like even HDFury 3 doesn't have the bandwidth 1920x1200@85Hz. No way am I going to lower it to 60Hz if I can help it.
So there's no legit way around it?
