Alright, so I'm gathering it will work but they'll run in 2T instead of 1T? Do you guys think I'll feel any performance downgrade coming from a Venice at 2.4GHz with 1GB of 1T to an Operton at ~2.6GHz with 2GB of 2T? I can wait a couple weeks and shell out the money for 2x1GB sticks, but it...
I'm going to be upgrading my Venice to an Opteron 170 soon. Right now I've got 2x512MB running in dual channel mode (speaking of, is that 1T or 2T? I always get them confused. CPU-Z just says "Dual"). If I get another pair of 512MB DDR400 sticks, will I be able to run all four in dual channel...
This has me completely stumped.
I ordered an OEM NEC ND-3540A drive for my parents' new computer, and popped it in with the rest of the hardware. It wouldn't power on. Not a big deal, I said. I can just RMA it and get a new one. Until then I'll use one from another computer. So I went...
Do Newegg's Rosewill "generic" RAM chips work well? I'm looking to order a 1GB dual channel DDR400 set for my parents computer. It will not be overclocked at all.
I know that PQI memory functions excellently, as that's what I bought my girlfriend, but the Rosewill is cheaper with today's sale...
I'm looking for a new system for my parents, but I'm sure that you could sell that video card alone for more than I'm willing to pay :p
Being a college student and not having any money isn't fun.
Thermalright's compatability pages do not mention it, and I haven't noticed anyone on dfi-street.com or here using a DAGF that's mentioned trying it.
I don't need fantasic cooling, I'm just looking for something that will perform as good as my current stock HSF and be as silent as possible...
I wasn't sure where to post this, but this seems to be the most relevant place.
I have a really old Belkin VGA extension cable that I'm using right now. It works absolutely perfect at 1024x768. When I run it at 1280x1024 (my LCDs native resolution), however, it produces a little blur. Also...
well, not quite. the overclock i settled on is 2.55ghz@1.6v (284x9), but i had 2.56ghz@1.6v (320x8) stable. increasing to 1.65v let me get a tad higher than 325x8 stable, which is just a tiny bit over 2.6ghz. so around 5mhz htt (40mhz) for 0.05v increase there.
i'm running the slightly...
Yep. Configured so that the CPU can take up to 1.6v as it needs.
Why? Because this chip would only go up about 90MHz before needing more voltage. The upside for that, though, is it idles super cool at stock settings, around 20C.
I actually had this chip stable at above 2.6GHz with an 8x...
I actually took one of those pictures with macro mode on. Oh well.
Here's the overclock I've pretty much settled on:
Comments? Load temps shoot up to about 55C. I figure that's low enough, as the default motherboard shutdown temperature is 75C, and that should be set conservatively to...
nope, i didn't. i thought about it, but then decided not to because i snapped a couple pictures. now i know i'm not a photographer, but i figured at least one would have turned out decent.
i uploaded the set of 4 pictures i took at http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b28/aaronfitz/ . it looks...
