Whats your favorite pc game of all time?

Mass Effect. All 3 count as one IMO. Yeah I know they're mainly console ports but I only ever played them on PC.

Crysis 1 might be up there. Not the best game but it was the one that made me want to go all in on PC building and gaming so I could get those luscious graphics.
 
Baldur's Gate for me, particularly 2 & Throne of Bhaal. Actually just a big fan of old Bioware games in general, but that's #1. Runner up is probably KOTOR 1 & 2, honorable mention to Mass Effect.

I had a lot of fun with that back in the day. Still play it once in a while. No need for a retro rig though. It runs really well on a Ryzen 5 9600X and an Intel ARC B580 with the community patches installed. So throw some gear at it that didn't exist at the time and it still runs well thanks to community support. The one messy bit I've run into with it over the years is on some rigs I've had is it really didn't like multiple CPUs. Ran like shit on a dual Opteron rig I built in 2004 unless I pinned it to one CPU. Also had trouble with a first gen Core Duo laptop. 9600X doesn't cause trouble but maybe the community patches fixed it. UT99 only needs one CPU thread. It doesn't know how to use more, and runs better when pinned to a single core. Doesn't really matter what kind on a modern rig. One of Intel's lower power e-cores they put in laptops is stupid crazy fast compared to what UT99 needs. So if UT '99 runs like crap on a multi-core rig just open up task manager and pin it to one CPU thread.

Hard to choose... but as of this time in my life, my pick is Divinity Original Sin 2. Played thru at least 5 times @ 200 hrs each...
 
Difficult to pick a favorite, so here's top three. Ultima 7 + expansions, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Battlefield 1. With more time and more expansions, may add Arc Raiders to the list.
 
I started real online gaming in 2002 with Metal of Honor : Ailled Assusalt = MOHAA , started learning to put a socket 478 Intel P4 together running the Nvidia Ge Force 4 4200Ti with 64mb of memory, it was wild times!

World of Warcraft was pretty amazing up through WotLK
League of Legends - I generally hate it but I can't deny that it's pretty fun when you've got a 5 stack in ARAM and you're crushing every match.
 
Half-Life 1 - game itself was pretty captivating and immersive for the time - and then it came with Hammer Editor and I used to watch Stargate SG-1 late at night on syndication trying to recreate SG Command in Hammer - and then HL1 allowed for Counter-Strike which we used to play at the cybercafe against Koreans all the time - and then the sequel (HL2) and needing to upgrade to play well/better is what got me into computer HW (only knew how to use a computer and download MP3s before that never touched anything inside).

I've had a lot of 'favorite' games on PC but HL1 was probably most impactful thus most favorite.

Favorite? What a tough question, akin to your favorite food or.. child if you had like 20.

First game I remember was Oregon Trail on an old Apple in elementary school. Also this typing game that measured your wpm I became obsessed with. (Fastest in class and they announced it at graduation :p)

From there my next memories were of the Sierra games on my home Apple once we got one, mostly Roger Wilco and Freddy Pharkas come to mind. It’s hard not to have such fond memories of the ones that got you started..

The first game to get me into shooters was the first Wolfenstein, Doom, and Duke Nukem.

Then it was all Half Life, Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, and Team Fortress.

Then of course UT99. I had a class in middle school with PC’s at every desk, me and the class managed to get it installed on every one of them and would play pretty much the whole time. Since I played it and they were new to it I would wipe the floor with all of them to the point they’d sit where I couldn’t see them and start games without me. Awesome times.

The original MAFIA rocked me at the time as an honorable mention, my degenerate ass actually stole a physical copy from K-Mart.

Another one to Fallout 3, my first experience with an rpg of its kind that opened the genre to me for the likes of its sequels, Oblivion, and of course The Witcher series.

I still play CS to this day and my time is unknown from beta - Source, but I have about 2800 hours in GO and 2 alone. I don’t play much at all anymore but I guess based on that alone I’d have to call it my favorite.

Also Elden Ring though, that game changed my taste in gaming forever.

Yeah, I had that on my list but removed it because I felt my list was already too long.
 
I feel like Red Faction was my first wow moment with dismemberment, maybe I’ve got things mixed up.
