Starship Troopers: Extermination (12-Player Co-op FPS)

So, this confuses me:

If I pre-purchase, will I have to buy the complete game separately? The main reason I never buy games on day 1 is because I hate paying extra for DLCs and junk. I just wait for the Most Excellent Platinum edition, but for multiplayer games, I do want to be there at the beginning, to support the community.

No you will get the regular game if it ever gets out of early access status. Note that it probably won't include future DLC.

Cool. I don't mind DLC in a multiplayer game, because you have gameplay leading up to it. With single-player, you have to go back and restart unless you somehow have your old game installed.

You're paying for access to the game, but also the full game whenever it releases as such. You won't have to ever spend any more money on the game, ( from my experience anyways)

It says right in your snip that EA is not the same as pre-purchasing.

Not sure when I'll get around to playing this but I went ahead and bought it today.

fun game but needs more game modes/maps/etc.. pretty much hop on and play one or two rounds after i get off work before doing my morning yt binge fest of everything i missed from the day before.

About 20 years ago I used to play Unreal Tournament. There was a PVE mode and it was awesome. I'd play with a bunch of friends and that was our favourite mode. This reminds me of it A LOT. I am loving this game. I was getting tired of the same old zombie PVE.

Just picked this up. Can't wait to kill some bugs even though I wish it was true to the RAH story.

I haven't played it in over a month now, they had a big patch that nerfed some builds and changed weapons/mods around. Game was fun for about 20-30hours but I've not been motivated to play it lately.

I'm interested to see what you think of it in its current state.

Meh. The game was pretty good in EA for two months after release. The few times I've played it in the past 8-9 months it hasn't been so hot. On the upside for them, Helldivers2 falling apart might help their sales a bit.

Been playing it for the last couple of hours on Xbox Series X. Total chaos but lots of fun. I wish they would have added an option to adjust the FOV but I'm sure it will come with an update soon. Overall fun.

Well, I've got about 5 hours into the game now since 1.0. Well, over 6 if you count the 1 hour of trouble shooting the game not starting. As of right now, I don't know why for me and several others reporting on Steam the game fails to start with some sort of render error. I think it is related to vsync settings but not sure. Game seems to run best with dlss if your card can run it. High textures setting with medium other wise works fairly well and dlss quality though I might try peformance. Stuttering at times seems inevitable no matter the settings. SSGI appears to be the best performance option for global illumination.

Also had the game refuse to shut down in Steam even though it had in windows (task manager). Killing Epic Online Services fixed that until I tried to launch the game again. Then EAC crashed and refused to load the game. Then windows froze. Web browser worked but I couldn't access windows task bar or start menu or start key. Required a hard reset to get back to normal.

TLDR.... this game is a buggy mess and runs when it wants to run. Still laggy in game and it is going to be a guessing game to figure out your settings for your parts. Also the price increase to $50 with $40 worth of dlc skins is highway robbery. I paid $25 for it last year and it was $30 up until 1.0 came out this week.

I've restarted this machine more times today than in the past month.

Edit: If you have the game not starting, freezing at the developer logo or the 4 tech brand logos, kil the game in task manager or steam. Go into your user app data folder in windows, local folder, and the yakisoba directory. Delete it. Restart Steam. It should reset your config files, putting in new ones and you can start the game again.

Crossplay with Epic Games Store really needs to be optional at this point with how many problems EOS has been giving games.

Grabbed the game for $25, excited to give it a try. My 1 friend only has an Xbox so he never got to play helldivers, he's pretty stoked to give this a try with me. I'm glad they atleast included crossplay with consoles lol

For $25 its not too bad, but will be buggy and have performance issues at times. So far I've not had any problems playing with console players besides them being noobs. Everyone has to learn or re-learn anyway. At least I haven't had any crashes while mid mission, just the failure to render/load bug at the start and a crash at the end of a mission when the audio was stuck on the level up sound and crashed the game to windows.

The United Federation of Planets needs ME!!??

Needs LIL ole me!??

Ah reminds me of Star Trek Elite Force 2. in 2nd place for me as far as FPS. Strictly judging it on the year it was released, coding and hardware for that year.

1. Wolfenstein 2009
2. Star Trek Elite Force II
3. Call of Duty 2
3. Crysis Warhead

This game looks like temu Helldivers 2. But I'm def biased after playing HD2 for the last 9 months and having almost 400 hours in it now.

its because HD2 is nearly perfect and they nailed everything pretty much.
Pretty much. HD2 goes through waves of intruducing bugs/issues and dumb weapon balancing decisions. But ever since the busted "Into the Unjust" update last Sept. or so that was crashing the game constantly and the new Rupture Strain bugs were impossible to dodge, they patched it up a month or two later and it has been pretty solid since. There's still a ton of gun and enemy balancing issues they can fix, but nothing game breaking IMO. Something about the gun play in it and how all the weapons feel different enough while the enemies react differently to them keeps me hooked on it.

Yeah I tried it again the other week with the new mech update. Didn't get a chance to try them but game is still mostly fun. That new gun they added last year apparently sucks though. Makita mk. 2 or whatever is just horrible in most conditions.

They've added like 4 warbonds this year with handful of new guns, but it sounds like you're talking about the Maxigun minigun they added back in December I think. And yeah it was mostly disappointing, but has got a small buff so far with a higher capacity, but doesn't do much for the slow ergonomics, low visibility in 1st person, and unable to move while firing. The newer backpack heavy weapons have def overshadowed it so far; the belt-fed grenade launcher and Flamethrower with backpack tank that has been very effective across the board.

But we should prolly go bump its thread to discuss futher so we're not derailing this one now. 😅

No, I meant the new gun in STE that got added last year I think. I tried it last week and hated it to be clear.

I've not played much HD2 in the last year. One of these days I finally spend my points on a warbond, so many to choose though. Most say to get the fire one with the crossbow and thermite first.

Oddly, STE tends to run a bit better on my older i7 than HD2 does. HD2 really eats up cpu more than gpu. The install size reduction did help though.
