The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It's just as much a game as on any other platform as on the switch .
Yea but sony raised the price for next gen, and everyone complained. They are raising the price for what, 2017 gen? Seems unnecessary. I preordered but still, dang nintendo.

Got my Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch pre-ordered, got my special edition Tears of the Kingdom pre-ordered, got my Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo pre-ordered, have the release date off and I'm using PTO (I almost jokingly called it a "religious holiday").

I think I'm ready.

At least a first party physical switch game retains decent value. However, no way would I pay that for digital.

I would suggest waiting for a sale, but Nintendo doesn't ever seem to do that for their flagship titles. I'm just going to straight-up skip this one. I never loved Breath of the Wild (it was okay, no more/less to me) and there are too many other games hitting around the same time. If it's really all that I'm sure they'll port it forward or I'll just emulate it at 4K/120 in a few years.

Love me some Zelda, however I'm concerned about performance. Nintendo is usually pretty good at making sure performance is adequate for their big titles, but that last Pokemon game was a clunker.

Kinda lucky Nintendo isn't releasing this title alongside a Switch refresh, I'd likely succumb to the hype and pick up a new console that I wouldn't touch for years after playing TotK.

Pokemon games are not made by Nintendo. They are made by Gamefreak----and published by Nintendo.

ToTK should have solid performance. Based on the recent demonstration video, looks like a pretty smooth 30fps, with a couple dropped frames here or there.

Yeah, despite popular belief, Game Freak remains private. Nintendo and Game Freak work jointly as The Pokémon Company to manage the Pokémon brand, but the games are still made solely by Game Freak.

Looks good, the kids are excited. I am guessing these games never go on sale?

I didn't know that there were 15 Zelda games released
Yea it seems that way cause they have huge gaps between console releases. It has been 6 years since BotW came out. They generally sprinkle some GB games in between.

And basically all of them are good games. And some of them are great games.

Minish Cap is on Nintendo Switch Online Expansion pack membership. And is one of the better ones. It was a Gameboy Advance Game.

I also really like the two Gameboy Color Zeldas, which were made by Capcom. Orcale of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.

The trailer looks better and seems to run smoother than BoTW. I'm not sure if this is just them getting better at their hardware or maybe they have another internal platform we don't know about that they ran it off.

My understanding is that Monolith Soft, the people who make Xenoblade, are involved with the development of Zelda these days.
I think the same engine tech that was used to make Xenoblade 2 and 3 look absolutely fantastic on Switch is also on display here.

Also, though a very different type of game. Somehow Metroid Prime Remastered looks amazing and also runs at 60fps.

They are not going to show off laggy game play in the trailer. They are going to present it at its best.

Neither Xenoblade 2 or 3 are graphically intensive games and both their frame rates chugg bad.

If only you could play these games on PC.
My little 8 year old already finished BOTW and is waiting for this as a gift for his birthday so day 1 purchase for me.

You can. Look up Yuzu. You can play Breath of the Turd at 4k/60.

Can you name a better looking Switch game with a similarly sized open world?

Also Xenoblade 3 is almost entirely locked at 30fps when on the overworld. It only chugs when you're doing some crazy combat animation shenanigans.

It chugged plenty of times on the over world. It is not locked 30fps.
