Lost Ark (Hack & Slash)

Download/Installing now. I may check it out, but I'm deep in PoE. Sounds like mixed results with how the launch is being handled.

Never understood the whole rushing thing. Just take your time and play through the game. Get level cap then spin your wheels looking for something to do. meh
The leveling process in ARPGs/MMOs sucks. It's a gigantic miserable time gate that you have to slog through before you can start playing the actual game. Like I love PoE but quit playing after 2 leagues because the mere thought of having to play through the campaign again every single league is downright depressing.

.. Ok, that's officially f'kng A impressive gentlemen.

Just read an article that said it broke the most users in a 24 hour period ever on steam. That’s no small feat.

So I have a level 22 Paladin and a level 16 Demonblade, and the game is fun, but not something I can get totally lost in like I used to with WoW.

I do like the crazy fast attacks movement in battle, it's pretty hardcore action.

But the zones seem rather small, and it's a game on rails, not really open world. And the mobs of enemies in the zones are pretty brain dead. So I'm not sure the longevity of this game for me. But I did play a fair amount today, I am slightly addicted to it LOL But how long will this last? Seems like once I reach 50 on both characters and run some dungeons, the burn it will hit quick.

Just killed a big spider.

man I don't care for this at all. doubtful I'm going to be able to get into this.

yea, I can't do this. I'm too much into Path of Exile. I swear poe ruined just about any game I could ever play again. XD

what a fucking shitshow this is....

at 3pm local time today, all servers had queues... ranging from 5k to 25k players waiting to play. roughly 250k in total.... which is a fourth of their total playerbase.... how???? how can you fuck this up so badly?

now, 2 1/2 hours later. you dont even get into the game anymore. you get a message when it loads up, that it will exit the game now.

Never played Path of Exile. Is it like Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3?
In PoE your character starts off very clunky and slow, but slowly improves over the campaign and at end game ends up godlike (well if you're following a decent build guide at least). Unlike other arpgs where your character is already 'awesome' at game start.

It can feel complicated and daunting for new players but imo it's not really as bad as some say - it's free so just hop right in and start playing around in the current league. Follow a budget build guide from their forums if you want, otherwise your first character will probably be mediocre - but there's nothing wrong with that as well. There's hundreds of viable builds so rerolling alts is common, and every 3-4 months is a new league so everyone starts on equal ground.

It's pretty much the sequel to Diablo 2 that we never got, as D3 was a failure in almost every way.

Installed the game on my daughters PC, she has a RTX 3070, and it keeps crashing every time at the fancy character creation screen, when the animations start up for each class.

I deleted her old drivers, and installed the latest nVidia drivers from this month, rebooted the PC, and entered the game again, she then got to the character class creation part no problem now, but after picking her Class and customizing her character and entering her character name, then clicking accept / finish to launch the game the PC crashed again and restarted. It has done this 3 times in a row.

I then had her boot up World of Warcraft and Skyrim, two other games she plays, and those started normally, and ran perfectly for 5 minutes each zero issues whatsoever. It's only Lost Ark giving her this crashing bug.

UPDATE:

Started Lost Ark again, her newly created character is showing up in the US East server, ok good, so I click to login and play her character, as soon as I click it, the PC shuts down and reboots. I tried this 4 times in a row, same thing every time.

Tried WoW again, I log in, click one of her characters and mess around playing for a minute, at 100fps with zero issues.

F this, I give up. I updated Windows 10 to all updates, I then installed all the latest Intel and nVidia drivers and motherboard drivers, and C++ stuff. Rebooted the computer, and then turned it off. And started the PC fresh. Let it load up and settle down for a bit. Click Lost Ark, it boots up, I get into the main server selection screen, I click her server, click enter, and the PC shuts down and reboots.

I'll hear this pop click sound right when it does this. Then blank screen, and PC rebooting. This is a brand new Gaming rig I built my daughter back just a year ago for Christmas 2020. 75% all new parts, except a few leftovers from me, like PSU, and Monitor and speakers were older parts.

I even went into Steam and game properties check to validate corrupt files, it did the diagnostic, found no issues.

W T F?

Ok so now I installed Lost Ark on my son's computer, he's not a NMO or RPG kid, but still wanted to test it out.

He's 11 just has a AMD 5600X CPU, abd RTX 3070 and 16GB DDR4.

Loaded up game, created a Gunslinger. Everything working 100% perfect.

So what's up with my daughter's Computer? Is it the PSU? Right before the game crashes I hear a pop / crunch sound for a split second each time it crashes.

But WoW and Skyrim work perfect for her. But she did say once in awhile she'll be playing a game and the computer shuts down and reboots for no reason.

I’ve downloaded it. Meant to the day it came out just forgot about it. What’s up with the Amazon published games taking forever to load? This and New World take minutes after clicking play in Steam.

Def sounds like PSU to me. (First thing I would swap)

Agree. So this being the [H], which high quality PSU would you recommend for my daughter's PC? That's affordable and won't break the bank.

She's not a huge gamer, just WoW and Elder Scrolls stuff, and wants to play Lost Ark.

Her system is:

Intel i9500 CPU
16 GB DDR4
RTX 3070
Solid State Drive
Acer 34" Ultrawide monitor

Loaded up the game yesterday and started with a warrior but switched to gunslinger/deadeye. Certainly is a lot going on with the UI but I got the basics down for now.

25 hours. That's how long it took to get through the tutorial "story quests". Pretty sure at least half of that time was spent running back and forth between NPCs hammering the "G" key on my keyboard into oblivion, and suffering through the randomly placed irritating unskippable cut scenes. Absolutely brutal.

Hopefully now that I can start playing the game, there will be more combat. Because the combat is actually enjoyable.

The rails somewhat go away when you get your ship around level 40. It's still small-ish zones and hordes of mobs but some of the setups are actually pretty imaginative and there are some entertaining quests sprinkled throughout.

That is spot on. I keep thinking I'm running around talking to NPC's just as much as anything else. The beginning of the game seems to get in the way of itself instead of immersing your character in actual quests.

After playing Lost Ark since last week, I do like it, and I don't. Keep in mind my characters aren't max level yet, I have a level 31 Paladin, a 22 Demonblades, and a 17 Assassin thing class.

- The fast paced action attacks are VERY FUN, and addicting, I love just taking on mobs of monsters and whacking way at 6 at a time, then another 6 right away, in wave after wave, as I plow through them nonstop.

- Boss fights too, just going to town on them for several minutes, using every spell possible, going toe to toe with the big baddie, until they're killed. FUN TIMES.

- Rest of the game is mediocre to bad for me. Questing blows. The zones / maps are very small. The game world feels stuck on rails, it's not open world at all. The enemies in zones are just brain dead stupid, just wandering around waiting for you to attack them.

- To me the game feels more Action RPG than it does MMO-RPG, it plays and feels more like Diablo / Torchlight than World of Warcraft. I would say Lost Ark is a combo of Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3. But not having a massive open world to explore and get lost in, does make Lost Ark feel like a mini game, not an immersive world to lose yourself in.

- To me the #1 thing about Lost Ark is the fast attack damage, the crazy spells and nonstop action against mobs and wave of enemies, the speed at how fast your character just blasts through the bad guys, and many spells to use to do all of that. I really love this part of the game a lot, now WoW attacks feel slow paced to me compared to Lost Ark. But the rest of the game is just meh, it's ok, not great, not bad. Long term not sure how long this will keep me interested?

- The few Scenarios / Dungeons I have been in, were LOTS OF FUN, that part of the game shines :)

The world opens up when you get your ship between levels 40 & 50 so you're getting close with your Paladin.

Level 48 at 35 hours and when I played tonight it was starting to feel like a bit of a slog. I probably don't have much longer before the grind of forever chasing 'random number +1' gets to be too much.

Gets to be too much? You haven't even gotten there yet!

Mixed feelings about the game.
I have some 65 hours so far and a lvl 50 Soulfist. The combat is fun, although it does get repetitive a lot. The world design is nice and I like the visuals.
The monsters are not interesting.

Voice acting, quest design and the story are absolute trash.
European servers have insane queues. I've been using auto mouse clicker to stay online when I'm at the gym or out. There's no way I'll get back as my server has 15k queue which is 3-4 hours wait time.
Also, I made a mistake and rolled on an unofficial french server. God damnit. I might reroll on another one, but I don't want to level up my roster again or start again from the beginning, ugh.

Gacha business model can suck my dick tbh. I heard western model is tuned down, but there's still gambling.

I see this game as an isometric Black Desert Online. But I'm kinda tired of MMORPGs. Might go back to WoW and pvp only with my warrior.
Diablo 4 can't come sooner.

I can't say for sure yet but I think it's the the unchanging combat mixed with braindead questing and the only upgrades being .25% better on top of some in your face gacha mechanics (the stronghold in particular) that are getting to me. Elden Ring can't come soon enough.

I tried it out. It feels like a janky mobile game. Its not very lefty friendly either. I typically bind everything to the numpad and DEL,END,PG DN, ETC, but they lock the action keys. I suppose I could remap them in the corsair software, but couldn't be bothered. Controllers are supported, but you still need to use the mouse and keyboard for menus.

The game run fine on my 9900k with 3080, but I had hitching in the menus. I dunno, the game just didn't feel good and I don't like gender locked classes. I prefer to play as a man.
