Grim Dawn Alpha starts tomorrow

Finally finished Ashes of Malmoth I didn't realize how close I was to the end I had some quest with blocked vents I guess the monsters were blocking them to the entrance.
someone joined my game and just Steamrolled it with his Cabalist. My problem with game I never felt good with the character I chose I have a Elementalist and the Shaman I never was sure how to spec him because of the amount of points I had. The guy I was with though says he owns crucible and gets his ass kicked in crucible so that made me feel mortal lol

GJ man! Buy Crucible if you don't already own it. It can get nice and crazy.

My Cabalist is also quite the Romper Stomper....

EDIT: is that 16:10? Looks that way, nioce.

16:9 24" 1440P I spent all nigt respecing my character I think he's messed up pretty bad too bad respecs cost so much lost like 150,000 iron bits I have a Shaman Arcanist basically had all my points in my Shaman tried to transfer them over with some sucess my Shaman just sucked without his pet.

I'm done with the game for now maybe untill Grim Dawn 2

Crucible is ok but I couldn't even get past level 19 charater kept getting slowed down I suck. I got like 3 rares out of it but can't use them till level 50 I respeced my character like crazy. Which you can do in the crucible I was chugging potions the entire time. Regen wasn't fast enough.

Crucible is where builds become a business. That's why I linked that video on the previous page.

If you keep playing, check out:

Good luck and have fun!

What is with that Trap gif.

So do you think this guy is using a trainer?

Entrapment resistance related ish. (Note the black "spikes" around the toon)

Trainer? Nah, here's the response he posted in that clip:

"I don't really have a clear process to optimize my character, I'll try to point out of what I can think of..

1. I try to keep resistances as high as possible without sacrificing too much DPS, don't forget secondary resistance like stun/freeze/slow resistance.

2. The more HP the better, especially build that have % healing abilities, 12k-15k+ is acceptable for melees, for casters I aim at least 10k+

3. DPS on character sheet is quite deceptive, I never use that to determine my real character DPS, it's only for an estimation, the real DPS have to include ability proc from items/devotion and other cooldown
skills. Resistance reduction also play a big role in increase DPS, I always try to get as much as possible. OA/Crit is also a very good way to increase your DPS, stack some %crit damage if you have high OA is better than % damage.

4. My definition of survivability come from various sources, healing ability(HP/sec, life steal, healing skill), CC (slow, stun, freeze), debuff(Fumble, -OA, %damage reduction), damage absorption skills(Blast Shield, MoE),
Defensive ability(DA), Chance to Avoid and Reflect(Shadow Dance) and lastly don't forget potions that you can use to help in some intense fights. When I look at my survivability I corporate these sources altogether to increase
my overall survivability. You don't have to have crazy surviability but just enough to sustain yourself through out the fight, there might be sometime when you have to fall back to healing before get back to fight.

5. Balance between single target damage and AoE, whether by picking second skill or using devotions/items proc.

After all clear speed is what matter the most."

I played too much diablo 3 to understand how stats in this game work (or in POE for that matter).

I need to find some basic info in how to choose what is better, most things are for advanced players and I can't realy make sence of.

I hadn't played this in almost 2 years I think, started playing again about 2 weeks ago, couple hours a night. So far it's been a blast; depending how long it takes to beat the base game will be my deciding factor on the expansions. I think I'm lvl 35 or so, just go to a 2nd big town on the far left of the map... no clue how much longer I have left to go though. I should probably read that Tips thread above, still have no idea what I'm doing with specs or skill points.

I definitely get crushed by some bosses though, have to make sure I throw down a portal right before the fight because I'm guaranteed to die 2-3 times during the course of the fight.

Biggest mistake I made with my first character was spreading my skill points all over the place. Focus on a few, you can always respec latter if you don't like how a skill works.

Follow a build. Find one that is dependent on gear. People post a lot of detailed builds and how to level them on the forums. I never follow them exactly but it does give you some guidance.

I started playing again a few days ago and I'm using this build for a death knight. Only level 37 but it is the first melee build I have enjoyed playing. Most of them I have abandoned by this point.
Might not make it to ultimate but hopefully it will keep me busy until the next expansion.

My eyes get so blazed playing this game because you are reading all that text on every item that randomly drops. I'll start playing with the next DLC comes out.
I read that they sold over a Million copies of Grim Dawn every at a few dollars a piece which could be a few Million in profit. I made it to level 50 in crucible last night so the checkpoint saved anyway. But it costs points if you want to start from level 50. I'm basically a Arcanist using the Shaman shield with Oak Skin to help me out. It's alot nicer just holding down the button just Blasting stuff with Aether stream instead of clicking everytime with my Shaman's swarm or having my Pet die on which I removed altogether. It costs me 7,500 iron bits for any skill point removal now. So I'm going to leave it where it's at. I'm going for a Aether build but I could use a level 50 Spell Tomb now since the one I have is level 40 Aether spell book which I have no idea where it dropped. I stopped using a melee weapon and I got a Epic scepter with Aether damage.

I've been playing on Epic only the Bosses give me a little trouble they totally changed the layout of the Cronleys Gang unless I'm seeing things. I don't remember a sign outside the Mine plus I think they changed the layout of the Mine.

Yeah they've done a couple passes on different zones over the years.

Years.... that's crazy heh

Those pics make me wanna play this at 4k sooo bad. Maybe with DSR once I pop in the 2600k to relieve the bottleneck on my 980 Ti *shrugs*

My constellation points are spread all over the place.... I read that if you get a "Tonic of Clarity" I have just one of them in my inventory you can reset your points does this reset the constellations as well reset will my added damage reset as well?

It does not.

Only way to reset devotion is to use GdDefiler linked above in a previous post by me.

Comix, judging from the pics, your DPS almost doubled in the past 2ish days.... (1.1 to 1.8k)

Is that from all the new blue/epic ish? or the respec?

Hang on, doesn't the guy that respec your skill also let you respec constellations with aether shards? Or was that removed?

Also, any idea on a good beginner Death Knight build? Most builds I read on forums seem to be end game builds.

When I hit level 50 and put the blue stuff on stuff started to take off now I'm leveling my nukes with the stars. Once I get the Tree of Life on my day off I'm going to see how good that turns out to be even though it's healing for me and the pets which I don't own any right now.

Looking for the best mouse to play this game cause I'm short on buttons on my Death Adder I have spells on the side buttons and the middle mouse button for a heal. I like the mouse though and own x3 more of them for backups. It's really hard to find a mouse with big side buttons Logitech has one my Chaos spectrum has big buttons but are not as comfortable as the Death adder. Once a mouse with big side buttons comes out and a tilt wheels which I can use for potions I'll get that my logitech G502 is anyoying cause you have to have the button pressed for the Athen ray to work and it just hurts.

I really want that level 65 armor that stuff looks so sweet my Girmore book is still level 40 but it's the best Athen damage book I could find I'm level 58 now I think. Playing in Epic mode gave me alot of XP for my charcter more than leveling in Crucible.

Level 65 finally have 101 hours in the game now the armor for level 65 made a big difference in HP not much damage though still using a level 40 Ather spell book but at least I can get away from chuggin potions and running away from bosses playing in Epic now discovering alot of stuff I didn't know about the game in my first run. Some guy online showed me where to get the blueprints for Skelton Keys where you can use it on the Nercopolis and in Ashes of Malmoth the Refuge of Coven has a druid den but when I used the key I got my ass kicked I haven't tried it at level 65 though I bet I could do it now. If I can't I'll just do an online game.

Update: Traded in my Tree of Life for Spear of Heavens it looked too cool to pass up. I'm at 40 points of Divinity don't think I can spec the Tree of Life as well with 15 points so I'm going to have to plant them in what works.

I hope they have better music in the new expansion. The music in Grim Dawn is decent but it gets very repetitive. I wish they had music for different zones rather than the same music playing over multiple ones.

I usually have podcasts or albums playing in the browser with all the in-game volume muted except effects (which is set to like 40% or something)

Compared to Diablo, their compositions are... not. that. great.

Music is a very overlooked medium now days in games. We poke fun of Blizzard a lot here, but you cannot deny their musical ability and the way it draws you in. Since Grim Dawn is considered a post apocalyptic game, I wish they could have gotten Mark Morgan to do the score for it, but I bet he comes with a heavy price tag :p

That being said, some of the music in Grim Dawn reminds me of Fallout 1 & 2, specifically this one,

Gold Slouch

Wish there was a mod that you could add your own music to the game.

For some reason I get a lot of black screens randomly in GD and it really works my RX 580 hard.
Eventually it just freezes up and I have to hard reboot.

Up to 160w easily according to wattman.
Stock or OC no diff.
Tried starting the game in DX9 as suggested online and no diff.

Shame because I love the genre.

I don't have this issue with D3 or PoE. Maxed out in 4k.
