AMD AT CES

I don't get it

Edit: I get it now. When I originally commented the post showed that it was reddit and the video just looked like a big image of Operas page saying that reddit couldn’t be reached.

I thought maybe it was some sort of dystopian reddit is blocked on CES WiFi or some dumb shit.

Oops.

I think it's supposed to be funny..... Why, I'm not sure. If it implies hope, I guess I can see it. I'll wait and see if there are actually things presented worth bragging about first.

If we get 3700x info and it lines up with the rumors... I will post a picture of my sac forball to see

Looking at that table, I don't think we're going to see 16 core Ryzen 3800 or whatever. So much for the hype
No this was their moble presentation. AMD hasn’t done their main event

I could see the news Haha

The year is 2035..AMD just announced thier 3nm quantum entangled singularity bus architecture with 96 cores per ccx with 12 ccx's per chip.

Meanwhile Intel announced 14+++++++ with possibility of getting thier first 32 core HEDT CPU ever!!

You can prolly count the instances that AMD got ahead on process technology were they are able to capitalize on it on one hand ...

2nd place is the first loser. Lately Intel has been making 2nd place decisions every day. What matters is where things are going... not where they've been.

AMD keynote is tomorrow at 9am, that's when we get the business.

While AMD's moments on top have been few and far between, the situation here could not be more ripe for them to pull ahead. If they deliver I may seriously be looking at my first AMD build since 2004 (Opteron 165 FTW).

You mean confirmation, when you watched AdoredTV piece on what Ryzen 3000 and Navi is about all we are going to hear is the release date for these products.
From what I read on AdoredTV twitter is that OEM are offering to have the X570 boards reviewed as well that more or less confirms the claim for both Ryzen 9 cpu as well (not likely AMD going to introduce a motherboard for a single Ryzen 9 cpu).

I've been burned by assuming the quoted specs are the real thing before. Hell I've been burned by believing the on stage demo fo the product is realistic (5ghz on air for haswell?).

But yes release dates, msrp, official clocks and core counts. Very exciting stuff.

Just saw on Twitter (even though it was posted a couple of hours ago) that [H]ardOCP shared some pics of Ryzen systems (I'm assuming from CES).

Was there confirmation on Kyle's attendance there? Give us the deets, Kyle!

And make sure to do some trolling around Nvidia's booth if you are there.

That was a really dumb vid lol

Aside from that, can anyone shed light on what IGN and ReShade have to do with anything? (full body view of the mascot)
I completely understand why Intel is there, but they seem to be highlighting IGN and ReShade...

I'm going to be sitting in my office, sipping my morning coffee while I stream this. Already thinking about my next build - was about to pull the trigger on a TR build during the Black Friday / XMas holiday but seeing how close CES I'm hoping I made the right decision to wait.

ReShade blatantly uses the 'Glorious PC Gaming Master Race" mascot created by Yahtzee from 'Zero Punctuation'. search "PC Gaming Master Race" and this is the first page of image search results.

Yep he said he was leaving for CES on Monday did not say anything related to purpose but he did not say he was covering CES so I'm guessing he got invited by an interested party?

Isn't Nvidia trolling their consumers with their 11xx series ?

Did you forget the lawsuit for 1bn that Intel lost because they screwed with suppliers and incentives to stop people selling AMD when it was better?

Should have pulled the trigger and then waited to build a second machine. :)

Oh, this dumb stuff again. (Not pointing at you, just in general.) Personally, I think we need to make one called Glorious Gaming Master Race, where a person games on a PC, console and mobile without limiting themselves to just one platform.

Edit: Oh, and it is PC gamers who say graphics is not everything, game play is what is important. (I would rather have fun on a less pretty game then be bored with a eye candy only game.)

Blasphemy!

LOL, it is a 7nm Vega, but they are hiding the Vega name...

The graphic shows it as the Radeon VII, the Roman numeral 7, but also the V for Vega & the II for two, Vega II...

And no more blower fan reference design, but three fans, one better than Nvidia...!

Wonder if they will even touch on Navi...?

700 bucks for a Vega Titan, not bad...

RTX2080 performance at RTX2080 pricing? Needs to be $100 cheaper, tbh.

Huge clue there - there's definitely room for a 2nd chiplet and the fact they've offset the existing one shows me they are prepared to add the 2nd one. Probably not at launch, but maybe in conjunction with next gen TR?

Edit: They also are comparing to a properly boosting 9900k - 2040 points in cinebench is it operating at ~4.7ghz, meaning they're either hitting that on 8 cores to beat it, going faster, or they have a huge IPC uplift. And at way less power - if they were showing system power (which makes sense given what we know about the 9900k power draw), we're talking 150W vs 100W for the cpu's alone, or a full 1/3 less than Intel for the same performance...

8 Core vs 9900k, the 8 Core won @ Cinebench and used less power! not bad

Yeah, it's clearly not quite prime time ready, but they're still toe to toe with an engineering sample 8C16T part, there is no way they would go for that layout without a reason. It would fuck up thermals for no reason to just have that offset "just because" and doing the IO die, again, wouldn't make sense if they only had one chiplet.

Ok whew.

Now I don't regret buying a used 2600k+mobo over the holidays as a stop-gap till this summer!

News flash 9900K is an 8core. But AMD being withing 1% is crazy good news. Now the long wait for the actual product. Also the short time it will be available before Intel will have their 10nm desktop chips out.

Such a bummer it's not Q1/Q2 availability but more like early Q3. I doubt you'll be able to buy one until august.

TR uses a much larger package. TR3 will likely be able to support 4 chiplets.

It will be interesting to see if Zen 3x00 will support 2 chiplets for up to 16 cores. My gut says yes, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm fully aware of what the 9900k brings to the table, but AMD has not been able to touch it, even with OC'd Ryzen 2000 cpus, so if 8 core vs 8 core and AMD can match Intels performance @ lower power, that's a win :p (and most likely considerably less $$)

This right here. I don't want to hear about the relative morality of companies. Point to where AMD kept someone else's processors away from suppliers by using bribes and incentives
