RTX on Titan V

Saw this on WCC but I don't want to link to them, here's the source (translator may be needed)

So interesting that Titan V is running RTX code on BFV and that it's competitive with Titan RTX

Another question - if they can run it on a Titan V, which lacks the RTX specific cores, what's to stop anyone else from trying it on any other card without the RTX cores as well? Given that it's supposedly just an API and is baked into DX12, can we enable this on a Pascal card, or on a Vega card?

I don't own a RTX, so I have no idea. Just curious is all.

People can jump to conclusions on their own but I would like to wait and see what exactly is going on with how they are doing this exactly.
Some people suggested that since the demo ran on Volta card this is why it runs on this card as well.

Suddenly cards that were pre dated this supported the technology as well by ways of magic of course :)
 
I have had 4 titan V's for more than a year and 2 titan v Ceo 32gb since summer. In all that time I've been able to run the ray tracing demo's and I'm getting better than titan rtx on BF5.

Its is not unique to RT cores, it can do fine with Tensor cores.

Granted my rig is unusual , but any of the GV100. GV100GL, and rtx cards can do ray tracing/rtx.

The tensor cores must be doing a lot of work. That combined with the Titan V being a more powerful GPU in everything else except for the RTX cores (since it has none) doesn't leave me too surprised. The V would close the gap even further if it could boost/maintain the same clocks the RTX does.

Can you run 3dmark timespy on Titan V CEO Edition and tell us what the score is in relation to a regular Titan V? I want to know if it's faster than RTX Titan :D

My own tests on 3dmark graphics score with max OC I could achieve (using 8700k at stock):

Titan V: 14,360
2080 Ti: 14,700
Titan RTX: 16,200

I've heard the Titan V CEO edition is around 15% faster than than Titan V, if true it would be faster than the Titan RTX.

I believe I will be disappointing some folks as the scores are not earth shattering. On my rig the individual cards faired as follows:

Time spy downloaded from techpowerup (I don't steam)

time spy - no changes just hit the "run" button:
(and no overclocking)

Titan V 12GB 12422

Titan V 32GB 13863

nothing spectacular, and somewhat of a let down.

There are a few things I noticed:
3dmark didn't really make use of my processors, and they didn't turbo up much. (44cores/88threads 3.7ghz turbo doing very little)
I don't think it really made use the titan Vs because the temperature never got higher than 69c on the TV32gb and 71c on TV12gbs, never saw any thermal throttling,
room temp 72F

Also, the extra ram of the TVCEO edition never got used, I think the advantage was the 4096 bandwidth, but the amount of ram did not pose an advantage on the benchmarks.


While I was installing benchmarks I also tried Superposition 4k optimized setting single gpu

The score was 12790

I uninstalled the benchmark stuff and the little things they left behind.

I'm not very impressed with the scores, unless all those 14k, and 15k scores are some extreme overclocking (I don't overclock)

where can I find what STOCK scores look like?



I just returned the config back to normal all 4 cards back in system in the correct order

3dmark timespy graphics scores are heavily affected by the cpu too.

So from what I can see from your score, your Titan V CEO is about 12% faster than Titan V. I had some similar scores when benching on a older CPU (5820K), I had a 12,285 stock on Titan V and 12,450 on 2080 Ti on stock.

So based on what I see your Titan V CEO Edition is probably about 2-3% faster than a stock Titan RTX, with the potential for more if memory overclocking doesn't stop scaling.
 
while it got off track a little, I was just saying that I can do ray tracing with the Titan Vs, the RT cores may have a role, but seems to work fine with tensor cores

Seems to be worth 25% or so perf boost, so RT cores are doing something.
