Not sure I would put a lot merit into the numbers shown here since it a probably very likely that "Far Cry 5 drivers" were used, but still worth a look. We were doing some performance testing this weekend and NVIDIA denided our request for FC5 preview drivers. Any way you slice it, it is interesting to see as Rapid Packed Math is making a debut. Thanks cageymaru.

While Far Cry 5 does not officially release until tomorrow, we managed to get our hands on the final retail game Saturday through official channels. That gave us enough time to thoroughly benchmark the game and bring you our performance figures – with ten graphics cards tested.

Looking forward you your review. I am very interested in seeing how Vega performs in this title. Kitguru's numbers certainly look good, but in addition of the dubiousness of the drivers used they simply used the benchmark instead of actual gameplay.

Seems like "far cry 5 drivers" were used on the AMd cards and the 391.24 Nvidia drivers which were not FC5 optimized. Nvidia is boss about game day release drivers for these titles. I would expect Nvidia performance to get even better

Cant wait to play this game. Consider my peter bug moist

Glad to see it runs so well out of the gate.

I might pick it up but first need to see how different it is compared to Far Cry 3 and 4.

plenty of people got it way early. go to the reddit site. it is apparently excellent

I'm guessing Fury performance will be somewhere between 580 and 1070. Maybe 980 TI and Fury X will be included in Kyle's testing. Looking forward to the [H] review either way.

I think it's pretty shameful of Nvidia to be spiteful about your reporting of their GPP stunt if that's the case. Kyle, I don't always agree with your opinions on things, but as far as running a tech news/reviews website goes, [H]ardOCP is the best. If you guys don't directly cover something, you link to a number of other places that do for evaluation. Keep up your journalistic integrity, it's greatly appreciated.

a well optimized game from Ubisoft right out of the gate...amazing

I was reading that it was one of the first games using the Dunia engine where all three platforms (PC, XBox, PS4) were running a near-identical branch of compiler. AMD supplies the assembler for both XBox and PS4, and I believe that Intel can run the 64-bit version of code made with AMD's asm, so I would guess that makes things a lot easier. Best practices for the GPUs used in the XBox and PS4 don't stray very far from DirectX, and I think that makes things easier as well.

I pray to God that Microsoft and Sony stick to standard components and don't go wandering off into the RISC forest again, because that was a nightmare.

P.S. I was gonna buy Far Cry 5 on release, but I'm not finished with my replay of Far Cry 4 yet ("EAGLES! WATCH OUT FOR THE TALONS!"), and anyway, I just went to NewEgg and scanned the prices for a 1070ti, and I have a few days of crying before I get over that, so ... *sniff*

got a copy of this free with a 1TB Samsung SSD i recently purchased... excited to give it a spin on my 1080Ti

Kinda sucks they aren't letting me activate and preload it at least.

There's no evidence of that. Is everything a conspiracy now?

Anyway been looking forward to this game -- my 1080Ti is ready, driver or no driver, I'm not real worried.

No, not everything is a conspiracy now. You know, hence my wording "if that's the case". That doesn't mean that NOTHING is a malicious (why a conspiracy? who's conspiring here?) action on the part of anyone. After watching a number of interviews/podcasts/videos on the GPP issue though, it does seem that Nvidia is, at best, being a dick about the whole thing.

They should have bench marked it on a 7960x/7980xe, to see if it crashes out like 4 and 3 and Blood Dragon and primal. They all run, but you have to change your config and reboot to play, like it's Ultima 7 and 1992.
