Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I would play the hell out of a D2 remaster. The ONLY reason I quit playing was the damn bots and spammers. A remaster might help refocus their attention to the issue.

Hell, yeah, I would be all over a Diablo II remaster. If this is true, they had better keep the original colour palette...

The two things I would wish for them to change if they did it was to make loot drops like D3 where it's your own because you know people will have PickIt up and running shortly and to have the stash accessible throughout all characters in the season with tabs you can purchase. Those were my only beefs with D2. I remember joining mule parking games to transfer gear from my MF sorc and praying the game didn't time out, which it did sometimes. Lost some good drops that way.

This fad of HD remasters has to stop.

Fans have been dreaming of HD support for D2 for 10+ years; whether it's a fad or something else that actually pushes Blizzard to do it doesn't really interest me, quite frankly. Until D3 and PoE came out there were really no alternatives to D2 if you were looking for a server-based ARPG, and there are plenty of people out there that don't like either of those games. Personally I like them all and would play the shit out of a D2 remaster provided they didn't butcher it with a bunch of D3-inspired "fixes."

Realistically though, that website is registered through GoDaddy, which doesn't seem like the move for a company like Blizzard. The web programming apparently doesn't look anything like any of their other sites as well, so it's probably some sort of hopeful fan looking to create a buzz (like this) before Blizzcon.

I ended up getting 2 sets of keys for D2 for that reason alone, making sure the game didn't time out and in case I did too many rejoins and I got the dreaded 'realm down' message.

I stopped playing D2 online because the only thing I really used online for was for leveling (I rush myself due to the 2 sets of keys), baal runs and trading, and then I discovered PlugY, which solves muling, and gives me better control of rushing (rushing 1 actual toon and bug rushing 6 mules for their forge and socket quest).

A lot of changes I want to see in D2HD is game play related actually, but some of the QoL things we got in PlugY and D3 are welcome too.

Season ends this Friday, for those still playing.

Personally, I'm two items away from the stash tab... need one conquest and one more augment.

Dumb question, but is the stash tab just when you buy the second chest icon on the top of the stash? I don't pay attention to that enough, and have only finished half of the seasons. But this season I finished a couple of the 'hidden' levels after completing the season and I am a little terrified of the amount of loot I will need to sort through next weekend...

TL:DR- stupid casual about to need excel to figure out his stash.:cry:

Yes, however that was for season 6.

Season 7 still will utilize the same stash tab at the top assuming you completed the S6 journey far enough to unlock the new tab. If you have completed the S6 journey to unlock the tab and complete the S7 journey far enough, you'll unlock another stash tab which will be a child object of the top tab you unlocked in S6.

Ah, I think I understand. It's somewhere above champion conquest then (after completing the season journey)?

just spent a good hour or so trying to clear up my stash. Had a full non-season stash as well as a full season 7 stash to consolidate.
I have way too many gems, need to level some of them up and add Dex to my gear.

Heh, liquid rainbow... And, um, dangit! I really thought I had completed most of the seasons, but apparently didn't but the stash tabs or something. I only have stash 2.1. Nowhere near enough to give each toon it's own stash tab, and the frikken DH alone fills a full tab with basic set items.

Do you really need that many special gems? I've been just keeping a couple of each.

Pretty sure it just had to do with it being Libra season. The article didn't seem to show that the photo had a thing to do with the game.

Apparently he'll be the advisor for GGG's Chinese launch of Path of Exile, which TBH is probably the most underwhelming way that this story could have turned out. Not sure what he was doing at Blizzard recently but it's likely that it had something to do with the upcoming 20th anniversary festivities planned for Blizzcon.

Yes, David is an advisor for our Chinese Path of Exile launch. He's working with us and Tencent.

What are people going to play in Season 8?

I've played DH the last season, and that made my life easy in terms of getting the necessary conquests done.

I'm considering something else. It looks like Wizard dominated the leaderboards during Season 7, but I really dislike playing Archon. Crusader is next up, but I feel like their lack of reach puts them at a big disadvantage. I'm testing it now though in the few days I have before Friday.

For me, probably hammersader, since the set of the season for saders is the Hammer set.

However, my motivation to play is waning, since I already have my 10th stash tab.

Thorns / Bombardment 'sader is pretty strong

I'm testing it now. The top leader board build is the Wailing Host/Litany of the Undaunted build. But that is basically impossible to play/build in a short period since it more or less requires all ancient gear.

I miss the supremacy of the S2 Shotgun build.

Depends on your definition of "short period".

During Season 5, I played Invokers sader (that's when they revamped the set majorly), but I was running around in LoN Blessed shield build before I clocked 100h of playing time, and I didn't initially even aim for the build either.

No, I don't need that many special gems, I didn't realize how many I had. A lot of them were in rings and ammy's when I was melting all the non-ancient and not-so-good ancient items.

The end of this week. S8 Starts on Friday.

So, I think I'm going to go for Crusader. Hopefully I won't regret my decision. There are definitely inherent disadvantages to the class (at least specifically the Involkers set build). I really dislike how I can solo clear gRift 70, but I can't kill a Goblin in T13 without help.

It does have advantages of course too. At least I can be super tanked up in 70+. Basically with minor repositioning it's virtually impossible for me to die. And I geared to this level in a week (of course that was with mats to be able to do Rare to Legendary upgrades).

I'm starting to waffle. I'm really not enjoying higher tier builds of Crusader. I may just go to Monk... ugh, I dunno. Or maybe even WD.

I know the feeling. Did Crusader in S5 (?), and it was fun (that was the first season of invoker + boyarsky) but I plateau'd fast. Since then it's been Monk and then WD.

Might go with DH as that was my original class back when I first started D3. Wifey has concerns about balancing two mana pools but I may convince her that it's not that hard (it isn't).

I used to play Wizard as my first D3 class in general, but its playstyle completely grew out of my liking (flashfire is NOT my idea of fun, and Monk's Dashing strike is closer to teleport than Wizard's teleport, ironically). The set I would like to use isn't nearly as powerful (I used to use Frozen Orb rather faithfully in early RoS days).

I suddenly had an urge to play Hammersader during last season, but unfortunately, the set wasn't Seeker (I am actually not a fan of either Roland or Akkhan's, they are amongst my least favourite set, though it isn't saying much).

I don't know, a lot of builds in D3 grew to the point where I really don't like them. I used to like Wizards, but now I don't, WD's HT set changed to something I am not terribly interested in, and I just hate barbarian in general.

My playable build pool is getting smaller lol... It's really just becoming Captain America, Multishot, Hammersader and One-Punch monk..

Invoker was interesting, up to until the point where I was basically standing there waiting until the physical phase of CoE to do any actual damage.

You guys are basically outlining my experience.

DH was my first class in Classic D3, but if you recall, it was also the worst. I loved the mechanics, but way back in the 1.0.0-1.0.3 days, the endgame was terrible. My first real end-game class was Wizard, in which I had the intense joy of playing Perma-Freeze Wizard. I really miss playing that actually.

As I said earlier, I really dislike Archon, my feeling on Archon in general is: why bother to have 6 skill slots if basically you spend all your time in one of them? To me it's poor design and I don't enjoy the abilities within Archon. It just doesn't feel fun. Wizard in its current state uses most of its skill slots to boost damage, which also seems pointless. (IE: Magic Weapon? Really?) I would probably like it more if it harkened back to the D2 days and really felt like a combo caster class. As "bad" as Teleport, Frost Nova, Static Field, into Frozen Orb was, it actually kept the player busy, kept them using different fun skills, and made the player feel like a Sorceress. Sadly there isn't anything like that in D3 that can complete g75.

Since Seasons, I've played a lot of WD and DH, with some Monk splashed in.

I enjoyed playing Marauder DH with Krider in S2. I also played DH in S7 which was also reasonably fun. But DH has no place in high level solo play or high level group play.
Monk is some-what fun, but I guess I suck at playing it. Most of the high end builds are glass canons that you have to deftly dodge and constantly move around or you will die. Which I guess can be fun to feel like you're always cheating death and on a high-wire. But for me it becomes tiresome after a while to move in and out to get in a few punches and try to not get squished, or lit on fire, or hit with electricity, etc all while waiting for Epiphany to cool down so you can actually kill an elite pack. The damage is pretty incredible, but so also is the amount of times I die.
zDPS monk I actually like playing, but there are too many of them in pubs and in chats. So it's hard to find a group. However, Monk does allow for multiple types of play without having to farm gear for another class, which is a distinct advantage.

WD for the most part has been fun to play. I ran it in S4 I think. But it's not competitive. It does have one group build though I think, which would at least allow competitive play in that aspect.

My experience with Crusader mirrors chenw. In Involkers I hate not being able to kill a gob pack. And not dealing damage in a build that's supposed to isn't fun.
Barrel Crusader isn't fun either as it's basically just stacking mobs and waiting for your Bombard CD to reset so you can hopefully kill everything in one shot. If you don't, prepare to wait another 20 or whatever second which feels like an eternity.

===

So for my playstyle I guess I don't have any options really. I guess I can play DH or WD and be non-competitive. Or play a Crusader build that is Tier 2 or 3.

I am nowhere near as serious a player as you guys. I played through D2 many many times and only picked up D3 earlier this year. For me its not as re-playable, even with the expansion. Adventure mode just gets really dull. What am I missing out on?

I don't see where the long term playability comes in. Must be going about it the wrong way.

My complaint with 'waiting for stuff to happen' also applies to every class when pushing Grifts, since most of the time, you are basically waiting for your CoE element to come up, and then you are dealing damage, so it's not exclusive to Invoker.

So Generally, I don't push Grifts any further than my season journey dictates me to. In Season 6, I didn't even need to push to Grift 75, I only did so, literally, for shits and giggles, I had every intention to avoid that conquest.

This season is the only time where I actually made ANY attempt at pushing, but I gave up after hitting 80, because it just got to the point where I feel I am literally tickling monsters when I am off my CoE cycle.

You are not wrong, I only play each season until I complete my entire season journey, then I quit the season until new season kicks in. I had been playing like that since Season 4.

I am not a terribly serious player either, I actively avoid pushing high grifts unless it is absolutely necessary. I only did so last season as a test to see if I can make it to the leaderboards, but the leaderboards in Asia is much more vicious than US server.

I haven't checked the final leaderboards positions, but on Asia, the Grift level I got when I pushed to 80, was in the bottom 200. In US, I would have been a LOT closer to top 200, but US leader has higher Grift level than Asia.

I gave up after about 2 weeks, I don't have the will power to keep pushing for the entire season, and I was time constrained (I have less playingtime in 5 weekdays than pushers have in 1 weekday), so I settled with timed leaderboards (EG conquest leaderboards).

I am not doing any of it this season, just going to come in in the middle of the season, get journey done and get out until next season.
