6700K in stock (US)

well my cpu/mobo is out for delivery from newegg right now. Ram was a separate order and wont get here til monday.

Getting itchy to put it together and see what she can do
 
Ordered from Amazon yesterday. I might have gone for a Newegg combo, but I bought 32 GB of ddr4 about a month ago. I had about $30 in NE points that were expiring & didn't want to waste them. Guess I'll be able to pick the MB I want now while I wait for Amazon.
 
My combo is set to deliver on Friday cant wait to see what the system can do upgrading from an amd 8320 to the i7 6700k. I really liked the 8320 but feature set wise it was getting long in the tooth.
 
Just go my combo :) starting my build... err finishing since I started a couple weeks ago.
 
as some kind of sick joke my local Microcenter has the I7 6700k in stock in store only for 359.99 today

I just have to laugh because my newegg stuff wont be here until friday.

thx for the heads up. The closest Microcenter to me has zero stock but I'll check it again another day. Would rather not drive there though as it's 4 hours roundtrip

Eh, what's a couple days... Thanks for the MC heads up tho, wonder how well stocked they are/were. I checked the two in MD where I've got family but they're both OoS.

Guess I might as well wait out my Amazon order and save myself the tax... Good to see MC backed away from their earlier price gouging attempts tho.
 
I am assuming since they do not open until 10am that there was a line of people waiting to buy all they had in stock. So even if I had wanted to get one it very likely would not have worked out. Like you said whats a couple of days, if it was critical I would have ended up with something else.
 
Microcenter did not even have a product page for the 6700k as of last night. My guess is some store got some stock and some didn't.
 
At least it's a sign that they're finally trickling out to multiple outlets in the US, maybe, possibly... :mad: :rolleyes: :p

None in Dallas. If they don't have MB deals to go with the CPU, I'll buy it from Newegg, since Amazon charges tax here.
 
All my parts minus ram showed up today. Now the waiting begins hah!
 
I have a complete ready, just sitting inside my new enthoo luxe, just waiting for a chip and to mount the cooler. This amazon preorder can't come soon enough.
 
I might call Amazon next week to see what's what if there's still no signs of stock... Doubt their standard CS will have a clue but it's been bugging me that they pulled the option to buy from them. I doubt they'll fail to fulfill the current orders, eventually, and I'm sure they'll put the buy option back up too... Just a waiting game.
 
Finished my build last night and installed Windows before work today. Didn't have time for overclocking yet though.

I am mostly interested in your RAM/MB combo and the timings you got, does XMP work etc.

Yep XMP worked fine. I got the 2x8gb 3000MHz set, so I can easily go for 32gb in the future if for some reason I needed to. I believe the timings were 15-17-17-35 or something close to that, I don't recall exactly though.

Yeah I would have expected them to give us an in-stock estimate by now. I'm calling b.s. on Amazon. Why even list it for sale if you have zero idea what's going on?
 
combos instock at newegg.

I bought a random combo and then I'll have to return the motherboard since they aren't offering what I want. Whatever, if that's the game they want to play then let's dance.

They seem to be lasting longer than the last couple times they put up combos... Called again to try it to get it separate to no avail, I'm half tempted to get it in a combo and return a mobo to them.

Should be free to do so as a Premier member, even pointed that out but still the rep couldn't do anything for me. Guess they want returned mobos. :mad: They'll probably get put up for sale again as new anyway, grr.

return it. That's the way they want the game played and since you are premier then it's free. I joined premier seconds before placing my order so that I can return with no hassles. I probably didn't need to do that though since the motherboard will never be opened and I was using shoprunner anyway
 
I'm on a Premier trial really, only joined it to purchase some RAM that wasn't available with Shoprunner, heh... Shoprunner/Newegg is sometimes a hassle as far as returns from Puerto Rico, they can't ever give me a return label directly so I end up sending stuff back out of pocket then get credit afterwards IIRC.

I explicitly asked if free returns applied to PR and the lady said yes tho, even after going over the fact that it doesn't give me free shipping for orders (they only ship 2 day here so Premier ends up being half off shipping). I can't believe that even after going over all that they still wouldn't just sell the damn thing by itself.

The CS rep put me on hold a few times, so she clearly looked into it, seems their hands are just tied on this.
 
Also, called Amazon, they're clueless about any ETA, they just know it's backordered... Couldn't explain the pulled listing, rep just seemed irritated when I brought that up a second time.

Edit: They're out at Newegg again btw, seem to have lasted like half an hour this time vs minutes on the last few occasions.
 
My newegg order arrived today, sadly I don't have time to put it together tonight, but We will see what tomorrow brings
 
Anyone else get weird contradictory emails from Amazon? I think the rep I talked to earlier today was just smoking something... Over the phone he just said it was backordered, no ETA, etc.

Then just now I get two emails back to back, first one says they don't know when they'll have it back and my order was cancelled, second one seems to imply I can just wait out the order.

Order still looks active on my account. :rolleyes: Newegg rep I talked to today also tried to bs me into believing the 6700K was already available sans combo once, not sure why as she was pretty nice and helpful otherwise.

I feel for those CS people, they don't really have the tools or info to be of much use. I'm probably gonna order the next Newegg combo that comes in stock and return some mobo back to them tho, kinda sick of this.
 
I MIGHT have gotten lucky with Newegg today...

I had been watching for stock all morning and finally decided to go for a nap right around noon. Woke up at 3 or so and saw the posts in this thread that they had more stock in with the combos, then that they were sold out again. SUMBITCH! That's what I get for sleeping!

So I signed into Newegg on my phone and put the combo with the Asus ROG Ranger board and G'Skill RAM up, and then occasionally refreshed it throughout the afternoon just to see if maybe they would throw an extra one in stock or whatever and sure enough around 4:30 or so the 'Add to cart' button showed up! You better believe I hauled ass to my cart and completed check out with rush processing and <gulp> next day delivery....

The order shows as 'Packaging...'. Who knows, I might wake up in the morning to discover it's been cancelled. I'm crossing my fingers though...

Really excited, this is the first CPU/mobo/RAM upgrade for me since I built the 2500k rig in my sig back in mid-2011. :D

Amazon is clueless so it was actually easier for me to buy a 6700k combo at newegg and return the mobo I don't want.

a few microcenter stores have them in stock, unfortunately DFW does not. The Fairfax, VA store has one... located on aisle 41A :)

Has anyone seen such a screwed up rollout before? It aggravates me the retailers are trying to bundle crap with the processor to move more inventory. I already bought a motherboard newegg, you sold it to me, now just sell me the processor.

buy the bundle and return 1 of the motherboards. it's the only option.
 
Costs the customer time and money, costs the seller time and money, makes no logical sense.
 
They're back in stock at Newegg. I just ordered the 6700k / Asus ROG Hero combo.

The combos work fine for me as I needed a motherboard and they had the one I wanted bundled with it.
