Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

ive been playing around with the new archon build.... not a big fan of it. i admit im still missing a couple pieces (ancient parthan defenders and convention of elements) but my old tals build (along with the new grand vizer being cubed) just puts out so much more damage. my meteor shower is hitting for like 400m a meteor, and its a never ending rain of those guys now.

i might just go with a WD for the season tomorrow.

*just massively beefed up my wiz. cubed a grand vizer (50% meteor cost reduction) cindercoat (fire skill cost -30%) and a unity.

The new pet WD build is looking strong, I may end up going with that. I really like the unorthodox playstyle of WD and it's looking like it will be a top tier contender for next season. The only issue is getting an SMK. Hopefully with the "Rare Upgrade" cube recipe it will be possible to get one in a reasonable amount of time. That being said, I've started to farm mats on non-seasons to get a feel for it, and it takes a long ass time to get mats. Even with a WW Barb that is capable of T10.

Certain elements of 2.3.0 take away from the grind, but getting mats I can see will be a PITA.

Actually with the mat conversion recipe in the cube don't think will be as big a problem as you may think. The PITA is getting enough Death breathes for all the cubing...

It took me 5 rare WD knives to get an SMK. Lucky or just the new awesome system at work.

Might actually have to make that helm that gives double Death Breathes.

Very lucky. I've been trying to farm it/them all night. Doing gRift. Using all my shards on 1h-weps. Converting all rare daggers to Legendaries. Nada. I was at it for 8 hours.

For reference, clears were sub 10 minutes, gRift 50 or above.

Just go craft rare ceremonial knives from the Blacksmith. I got an SMK last night myself along with an ancient Dagger of Darts using the cube.

they likely already exhausted all their mats doing that.

Ugh why isnt it 8pm yet, i want to start my season 4 monk...

Pretty sure i already have 4 people, but there might actually be more than 4 people on leveling up in my TS server, you are welcome to join TS and see if i or someone else in the channel has room for an addition.

We are doing standard season, not hardcore.

WildAce#1546 if you want to add me on battle.net

I have a mumble for HOCP and friends to use in general. PM me for more info or if you're in teh HOCP clan I'll have the mumble up there later today.

I plan to do 1-70 probably starting at 8-9PM PST. LMK if anyone's interested. Seasons, Non-HC.

I actually didn't think of that.

Just tried it. I went through 7k mats of each type. Still didn't get it. I'll now have to get more whites for conversion, then try even more.

SMK is basically impossible or super easy for people to get. I hate that it's basically a necessity.

EDIT: Now playing WD in Seasons. If I don't get it this season, I'll be pretty pissed. But considering I've never seen one drop ever, I'm not keeping my hopes up. Without it WD dps is sub par.

ive had so many items drop already this season

40m gold
2 puzzle rings = 2 vaults
mask of jeram
bracers of jeram
2/6 arachnid set
3./6 jade harvest
furnace
new seasonal mojo, cant think of its name

So I am confused. Everyone seems to be playing seasonal heroes right now but it looks like a waste of time. There are only 3 new items in the game which are not any better than what is already in the game and they will be added to the game after the season ends anyway. Am I missing something?

Yes. The purpose of seasons isn't for specific items. It's for competitive play. If you don't care about that then don't bother. However after playing D3 for close to 3 years off and on, without the added interest of competition and enjoying a fresh equal start there isn't much of a reason to play the game. In NS I already have everything. Seasons has a big added dimension.

Edit: Also I would argue Diablo as a whole is a waste of time. But hopefully an enjoyable one. It's definitely a game that is a massive time sink I comparison with other games.

Fresh starts?

Well, you start out like a new game, no crafting, no money, no bank, etc. So you start over essentially for a season. At the end of the season, your toons and bank can be merged back into your non season account.

I got a cubed SMK in about 50 or so crafts, which I thought was pretty damn expensive already (It was a pretty crappy one so I cubed its power). But then again, I have an unusual RNG luck (1 calamity vs 9 Kridershot drops).

Still need to find a viable Death's Breath farming build though. Can't seem to squeeze enough sets into any build with sacrificing something. I guess Raekor Barb would be the way to go.

Started S4 WD (I am leaning towards Helltooth, but I got a very good Ancient Zuni mojo while being boosted), but I probably will stop as soon as I have all of the possible cosmetic rewards from S4. Can't play competitively because of time constraints (what I can play in total of a week's weekday is what a competitive player can play in 1 day).

Still don't know what (or if want to) monk to play, I am leaning towards Uliana's.

the seasons are too long in this game, they should be a week or two like in path of exile different races and that... i dont see the point grinding from the start when its more fun trying to get all ancient gear for your main chars and pushing them higher in personal rifts and group play... like if i wanna start from scratch i go play hardcore not season... u must play day and night anyways for weeks it seems to get some decent gear why i wanna do that when i can play better on the chars i already have hundreds of hours invested in ?

I have maybe 15 hours into my S4 barb.. So far in ruining a 6 piece ik set. Haven't pushed to the limits yet but was still crossing through a 25 greater last night before I called it quits and went to bed.

I've seen people talk about this, how does it work? Do you extract the legendary power from the puzzle ring and a portal opens up right in town?

Just broke sub 200 ladder rank on my monk this morning. Probably try to push more tonight. Hoping to maybe be able to clear 60 tonight.

I've had incredible luck this season. Just need to find 2x gifts and I'll be pretty good on weapons fora while. (Though I am trying to cube another fists of az since I have a crappy EP%)

Now that I'm pretty much GG geared I can carry pretty hard. Easily able to carry grifts 35-40 and T8-T9 rifts. If you're in clan and just need some help just shoot me a msg.

Also looking to do Ubers for HFA farming. If you got keys I can do the rest. :)

Please read what we posted just a half dozen or so above yours. Competitive play isn't for you and that's okay. Feel free to play NS and move on. Having your perspective is fine, but obviously there is a huge player base playing seasons whom are interested in a different type of play.

Also, I should note that you don't lose your seasons investment or your non-seasons one as it all rolls over. And it's not about you starting over, it's everyone starting over. The purpose to reiterate is level playing field. Which would be impossible literally any other way.

and now i have F+R on my WD. im not even specced for pets (besides the cubed mask of jeram) and im seeing my fetishes hit for 160m.

The cube certainly adds an exciting element to game (albeit an enormous power creep element, but whatever). I skipped S3 and didn't pay much attention to anything until S4 started, so the cube is exciting. I also think they've struck quite a nice balance by reintroducing the crafting materials from each Act, and they've made the bounties interesting again.

I'm rolling a WD this time and, while I haven't had the best luck with sets just yet, I've found a Short Man's Finger, a Haunting Girdle, and Jeram's Bracers so far. The Haunting Girdle + 2-piece Jade Harvester is a beast so far! I had full Helltooth before it was cool - back when the 6-piece bonus was like "your wall of zombies does 11 damage per second" - so as soon as I saw that it was re-worked I decided it was time to play a seasonal character again. Unfortunately I've only gotten the helm so far haha.

i think season 4 is finally showing hints of a real diablo game again. its still no where near as complex as D2 was, but its starting to show shades of its former self.

Finally figured out this diabloprogress stuff.

too bad the armory updates once in a blue moon.

Silly question: Lets say I've extracted +2 magic missiles power from the wizard source. Can I use that power + another +2 mm source for the total of 5 missiles?

A Legendary power extracted by the cube will not stack with the same Legendary power if the corresponding item is also equipped. In other words, you can't double dip on Legendary powers. That said, I think some of you bring up a good point when you mention that, at a glance, there's no way to know this while you're in game. I'll mention this in one of our upcoming meetings, and thank you all for bringing it up.
