Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Not only the gem but the goblin rifts helped with gold too for me anyway on ptr.

Well a lot of people already have billions of gold and whatnot, but there were also a lot like me who pretty much had nothing when RoS came out. It was a bitch to get gems then and stock up on mats. I didn't play that much when RoS first came out since I still had school, so I never really stocked up on much. I put 90 hours into my dead witch doctor, it says I farmed 200 million gold with him plus a ton of mats. It makes it easier when you want to get another character at 70 if you have that foundation. You can craft a ton of Aughilds or something, plus you don't have to constantly worry about running out of materials for rerolling items.

The goblin rifts are rare AFAIK.

I have been playing and keep asking will 2.1 change a lot...
store a lot of mats paragon and gold...why? Is there some new change that you can't get them any more?
How about all those crafting mats I worked for and then they were made trash in 1 second. Yep keep on grinding.

Are you talking about the pre-expansion mats?

I was disappointed as the next guy, sure, but not entirely surprised. This is how blizz does expansions now.

Well it semi makes sense. Pre expansion Mats could be stocked up and give players that have been playing forever a MAJOR advantage when expansions come out. almost an un-intended advantage. At least this way when a new expansion comes out you have to re-work to gain that advantage again instead of just starting out with it.

RoS came out 2 years after Diablo 3, so I wouldn't worry too much about an expansion on the horizon.

Indeed. But in a game like this, who really cares how far ahead of you some character is that you've never seen nor will ever see?

sweet. I wonder if they updated the Rift runes to stack to 1000. i've been storing a bunch of them since rifts only cost 1 rune per player in 2.1, you pay your own way into the rift in 2.1.

Shame, this game needs a lot more work. I still cant believe Blizz showed of legendary gems and grifts as awesome new features for 2.1 then they went and decimated them into uselessness. After 1 week when everyone gets the only ONE good gem maxed out (because of the way Blizz had to kill them, of course) then everyone will stop playing Grifts, cause pointless and no progression, and back to t6 rifts..sigh.

On the other hand the five Twitch streamers that are excited about no-lifing seasons will be happy. Why they decided to implement seasons when the game has no economy and there is no permanence to character skill-tree is beyond reason. Oh and have you seen the season only legendaries? What a joke.

If Path of Exile had good combat D3 would have been dead long ago.

Theres a hell of alot more wrong with PoE than combat

Ok gonna get this game finally :) My two brothers and I were huge Diablo 2 fans, playing late late nights together, now we wanna do it again with Diablo ]l[

My Brother bought $40 worth of Battle.net Gift Cards for my Birthday, and I don't own the origianl D3 yet either. So Blizzard's own site was the cheapest, $59 bundle for the two games, the main Diablo 3 + Reaper of Souls. I load in the $40 gift cards, and shows a balance of $23, the grand total being $63 w/Tax.

But it doesn't show me an option to pay both ways, sue the $40 I loaded onto my account, and then use a credit card to pay the $23 difference :mad:

Seems like servers are getting DDOS attacked again from Loser Squad. I have a feeling that the game won't be playable this week, despite 2.1 coming out tomorrow.

Best buy currently has both the game and the xpac for 20 bucks each if that's a better option for you.

Otherwise, add 23 dollars to your battle.net balance, then complete the transaction.

Down again, good thing I stopped rifting an hour ago.
And I just warned the rifters that DDOS were coming. Every night, same time.

How do I specifically add an odd amount of $23 to my battle net account ? I only saw the $20 increments for sale. Is there a way to enter in a certain amount ?

Thx.

Don't worry about the DDoS stuff guys, we have Ghost on our side

Wait, so is Ghost an anti-hacker or something like that? Someone that restores the order? This is interesting to me. I was trying to google, but didn't find out much about him. Any links about his background info? Looks like he's some guy that's trying to bring the servers back online.

so possibly
this is the guy, kid, who ddosed psn.

Holy crap. This game is so, so, so much better than launch. I just took my crusader through Act 4 normal last night, should hit Act V for the first time soon; but even rehashing the old content, just so much better. I'm actually wearing 4-5 legendaries, with another 3-4 in my stash and another 3-4 I destroyed to craft. And the rares are so usable...man, what a freaking difference. Loving every minute of the game now, wish I had more time.

So, I'm terribly out of it; what can I go read up on in regards to crusader builds? Also, seems like crafting is 10x as useful now, but mats are changing? If anyone could point me to a good site to quickly read up on WTF I need to know now, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, crusader is so damn fun. Got some legendary sword that has a chance to turns mobs into lightning rods, swapped everything I could to lightning damage. Think I'm somewhere around level ~48, playing through Normal on Master difficulty now.

Just hit 62 on my crusader last night and damn it wish I would rolled him from the start. He is so damned fun it is ridiculous. Monk is fun but nothing like the crusader.

Crusader builds currently all revolve around what flail you have. The blessed shield and shotgun(forget the skill, it adds 2 more rays to the one skill) flails are the best. You also need the full set/5 pieces with RROG. For the blessed shield you usually run captain crimson's since you want a lot of cool down, might be the same for the shotgun build although I'm not 100% sure on that.

Holy shotgun requires full akkhans set to be any good

Most Crusader builds revolve around full Akkhan set bonus and stacking cool down reduction gear. 53.6% cool down reduction + full Akkhan set means you can recast Akarat Champion with 0 cool down. 53.6% is on char sheet. It is not the sum of all cooldown reduction gear. This is because cooldown reduction gear is not additive. It is multiplicative, meaning to hit 53.6% you would actually need more than 53.6% in CDR from gearing. Get it in every slot you can except necklaces because that would sacrifice one of the damage stats, likely crit damage. Since crit damage can reach 100% on necklaces, it's a bad place to roll cool down reduction. Get CDR in shoulders, gloves, rings, 2 piece Captain set bonus (either belt and pants or belt and boots), and Crusader shield (shame that 2.1 means Hellskull doesn't roll CDR innately anymore). 2.1 will give some leeway, but you will have to find items for that. The revised Vigilante Belt will have CDR on it now (only belt with CDR in game in 2.1). Leoric's Crown will increase the effect of the socketed gem in the helm from 75 - 100%, so possible to get 25% CDR on Leoric's Crown after diamond.

That said, most people with full set eventually go with a holy build. This uses holy skills damage gear, Fate of the Fell, and Heaven's Fury with Fires of Heaven rune. It's what is known as the shotgun build. It uses no wrath generation skill, relying on Akarat: Prophet up time and careful use of wrath generation/management skills (not attacks), such as Provoke, empowering Law of Valor Unstoppable Force rune to lower skill cost, and sometimes Shield Glare with Zealous Glare rune. The passives you will use are Heavenly Strength, Long Arm of the Law to increase empowered law time, Finery, and Holy Cause, probably.

The other build revolves around using Darklight, Fist of Heavens with fire rune, and Akarat: Firestarter. It requires a Cindercoat as a cornerstone piece along with the other 5 piece Akkhan set. Too tired to write the rest out.

Poor man's Crusader build forgoes full set bonus and uses Gyrfalcon's Foote + Jekangbord shield to play like captain America. It uses a mix of the crafted sets, mainly Aughild.

You said 5 piece but not the set name :p

Full set/5 set with RROG!

There is only 1 crusader set armor until later today (2.1 introduces some new ones, but they aren't 6 pieces AFAIK).

Honestly, I'm mostly excited for the wizard right now. Gonna try out some disintegrate fire build with firebirds. Not sure how good disintegrate is anymore though, but it does have a fire rune now.

I spread myself out pretty thin when i was actively playing. It was the only way i could keep myself from getting bored of the item grind. I used disintegrate some with my wizard and wasnt all too impressed, i enjoyed arcane/archon builds the most

Wizard was my first class but stopped at 42 and dropped d3 because it was just lacking something and went back to poe. When I came back I started a monk because I forgot how to play the wizard and wasn't having fun with him when I came back.

Different strokes for different folks of course but I've always prefered melee classes. Wish I could get into magic users but I get bored so quickly with them :(

Isn't the Captain Crimson a pretty low level set? Does it not matter due to the set bonuses? I believe I have a Leoric's Crown and the recipe for captain crimson's; I've completely forgotten how this game works, do they scale with the difficulty level I'm at (Normal/Hell/Inferno, etc)?

Whenever you craft the crafted piece will be set to your level. It all scales

Thanks for all this, super helpful. Out of curiosity, why Prophet rune? Just better survivability in Torment?

Also, I really enjoy playing like Captain America right now, with those items would be even more fun.
