Silverstone SST-SX600-G 600w Gold SFX

No this does not work. I had the FT03-Mini with the NT06 Pro. A 120mm fan was mounted on the NT06 blowing into the PSU. Problem: The NT06 gets hot, so the air blown through its fins gets hot as well and enters the PSU afterwards! This makes your PSU use 40°C - 50°C hot air for its cooling, meaning the PSU gets hot and loud.

Interesting. And so you reversed the psu, or the heatsink fan? Did you measure temps afterwards?

1st Config:
NT06 Pro without fan, psu sucking hot air in. CPU ~75°C, PSU very noisy and hot.

2nd Config:
NT06 Pro with fan blowing towards PSU, PSU sucking hot air in. CPU >65°C, PSU very noisy and hot.

3rd Config:
NT06 Pro with fan blowing towards PSU, PSU reversed. CPU >70°C, PSU very noisy and hot.

4th Config:
Corsair H60 cooled by bottom 140mm fan (Noctua A14 PWM), PSU fan oriented inwards. CPU ~60°C. PSU noisy (less than 1-3, but clearly audible) and a little less warm.

All configs were cooled by a Noctua A14 PWM. RPM varying, but I never let it above 700 RPM (this is my pain limit with regard to fan noise).

PSU used: Chieftec SFX-BS350, silent reference for SFX PSU's (see fan speed graph in link--> "Lüfterdrehzahl"; http://www.computerbase.de/2014-04/sfx-netzteile-test/8/ )

That is really interesting. I had no knowledge about the Chieftech PSU at all. Is it based on the FSP design, or their own system?

Holy crap, if the faintest fan noise hurts, I suggest you go to a doctor :p

Sorry, but I just can't behave when I hear people talking about agony when a fan makes the slightest whirring sound.

Yeah, some people can be down right anal retentive about noise. I have a buddy that is like that. Swears up and down how noisey his pc is. I cant hear it but he has super hearing or something. He drives himself crazy about it and everyone else. lol :D

Wow, that is ludicrously expensive.

mate its the Australia Tax - everything we buy that is tech is hideously priced, even though shipping from Asia to Australia or the USA would be pretty similar.

we just have to deal with it!

at least we are getting it at all, theres plenty of tech that never makes it here - Prolimatech for example, is non-existent in Australia. i can only dream of sites like Newegg or Amazon US for buying PC components.

PCCG is as good and as cheap as it gets for us down under.

Do you think we need to do the fan mod on this unit like isnt the noise blocker fan still better than the fan that this comes with?

No, they already did the fan mod for us. In fact even better since it's semi-fanless. Tony Ou confirmed it.

The top red lines are the ST45SF-G v1 and v2 (higher is noisier). The purple line is the fan mod on the ST45SF-G and the deep red line at the bottom is the SX600-G.

It's going to be quieter across the whole range of output :)

Nice thanks. can't wait to get it to try it out i have to wait for my board to come back from RMA 1st as it had a cooked VRM :(.

SX-600G listed as "In stock" now on PCCG for the Aussies

I cringed as I submitted my payment for that amount of Australia Tax + shipping, but I got in touch with the main Silverstone AU distributor (Mittoni) because I couldn't find any store that had it in stock until PCCG updated their page. Mittoni said the first shipment arrived in AU Thursday last week and has all been sold already (probably to PCCG) and they won't be getting another shipment until 30th Aug, arriving at retailers early Sept... so I thought I'd jump on this first batch too, fingers crossed

Excellent to hear that Jambo - I hope it means they are coming soon to the rest of the world too :)

Barring any custom delays, North American retailers should be getting the SX600-G in about a week. While European retailers should be getting theirs sometimes in the second week of September.

Any news on the SX500-LG ?
Many here are eager to test it out if it fits the Ncase M1. And I would offer up to test and review it in the Ncase M1 (purchase or loaner) if SilverStone would be interested in ~1600 potential niche customers + even more other SFX-compatible case-owners ;)

Thanks for the info Tony - that seems to follow the schedule that was saw before. Alternate.de were saying expected delivery 15th Sept., that's the start of week 3.

Well that should make everyone happy. Enjoy overclocking your Titanz.

FTFY

Thanks, man. Is it still too early to get a date for the new SFX-L PSU? I'm really excited about that design!

Ordered mine yesterday there still showing stock so i wouldn't worry about it when PCCG goes out of stock they change the product status.

Cool! Thanks Tony!

I ordered one from PCCG last night while it was showing as in stock, then received the following email this morning:

"This is a courtesy email to advise that your SilverStone SX600-G SFX Modular 600W Power Supply is expected to arrive at our warehouse on the 05/09/2014."

The item is now listed as pre-order again. Ugh.

:( sorry to hear that mate. I didn't get one but I'm too scared to check my email for the rest of the day. I only have a very small window to build my M1 or delay it all again

"PCCG Order has now been shipped" .... I ordered just after 4PM yesterday, must have just scraped in on the first batch

Some sort of crazy time-travel paradox going on there.. really hope you still get it sometime last month (look in your PC, maybe your future-self already installed it) :D

Don't be fooled by the Australian date format (DD/MM/YYYY).

i ordered one of them when they first came up for pre-order and my PCCG order (which i asked them to hold until the SFX arrived) has been shipped today, so clearly all the pre-order stock got snapped up real quick.

Yeah, I was keeping tabs on their website and it went from "pre-order" status to "in stock" a few days ago, then back to "pre-order" for a few hours and then back to "in stock". I ordered when it was still "in stock" last night but someone else must have completed their order + payment before me, and I missed the last unit.

Next shipment in a month...

Nice, congrats!

I really don't understand our pre-order system with retailers here in the US.. I can place a pre-order for any damn video game over 2 years in advance (at any retailer), but cannot pre-order a PSU that will be on sale in a week anywhere (or the U3477Pqu monitor that's coming next month that I really want).

Hmm - I just got email confirmation that my order has shipped, including the PSU!?

Sounds like PCCG need to get their stock/inventory system in order :p
